Creating my first Portable so I thought i'd start a worklog for it now that I have more time.
Inspired by GMan and VoxelTek to put a Wii inside of a PSP I've decided to go on that route.

EDIT* I am making a custom carrier PCB for the 4layer boards and the controller.
Hello I am trying my hand at making a portable Wii. I have ordered the stuff from 4Layer and have started with 3d printing the case the printer I am using is a Elegoo Neptune 4. I am posting my progress so if I get stuck I can get some help. Here Is a picture of the bottom half of the shell.
After working on it off and on for a few years, I finished my first Wii Portable build almost a year ago, which was a G-Wii modified to have HDMI out and external GC Controller support. Now, I believe I'm ready to tackle my first original design, which I plan to make a clamshell. It'll be at the...
Heyo hello! I'm a regular newbie dumbass looking forward to working on baby's first portable build, an Ashida. I don't have all my parts in yet (I haven't even ordered all of them), but I am both too excited and a little too nervous to wait patiently about it, so I figured I'd get something out...
I'm always wanting to create yet another mini GameCube. It looks like games are more playable in the latest updates so I'm using a raspberry pi 5 with a M.2 Hat+ and a Mayflash GC controller adapter. Hopefully making this thread will give me motivation to show regular progress.
Update 01/03/26...
The Namco Pac-Man TV Game.
This is something I have been thinking about doing for a couple years now and I think I'm finally going to start the project! This is one of the few undumped ROMs that is not currently playable on MAME. It is a nostalgic cheap TV Plug-n-Play console that I had as a...
Hello everyone, I want to start off and give some backstory and context for myself and this worklog. I’ve wanted to get into portables for a while, I remember when the first few made their way onto the internet. As an adult with adult money I wanted to give it a try, my first attempt was in...
Hi, I'm not really sure where to start with this worklog because with the projects I usually do, I just make a writeup after i'm finished, but here we are!!
I am currently making the Okama Gamesphere into a real and working Wii micro! For those who don't know, the Okama Gamesphere is a fictional...
To my knowledge I've not seen a lot in terms of a modern screen attachment for a cube. With the prevalence of HDMI adapters people use and the internal mod one can install, I wanted to resurrect that old Mad Catz display attachment that I know most of us secretly wanted.
Parts List (everything...
Hey guys :D , in this thread post i'll basically document all my steps for creating my first ever wii portable, for anyone who wants to know what parts i've bought and i'm using, here's a list with them:
1x Untrimmed Wii Family Edition Motherboard (it has 4 layer board and low consumption which...
Guess it's my turn for one of these.
I've been planning on doing something like this ever since I saw Yveltal's Preliminary trim and how similar it looked to the Wii Mini, and with the Wii Micro being a thing, I thought something similar could be done with the Wii U.
I cut out a Wii U board...
Recently I saw Project Short Stack by Loopj and I really love how cute having a little console is. I considered making one myself, but doing so would require an OMEGA trim which is beyond my capabilities, at least at the moment. Enough time has passed since my spectacular failure with the...
Hi all!
Long time without a post but I am back and with more electronics knowledge learnt this past few years, I'm ready to give it another shot!
This time the project is planned to be much simpler and smaller scope so I can actually finish this and learn on the way!
The idea is a handheld...
Hi everyone!
Its almost 2024 and a perfect time to build a G-boy! or should I say the The G-Boy Rev4U! I'm making this a translucent shell with blue/white buttons so I'm calling it Glacier Ice!
I have always wanted to build the Gboy from movement I saw it. Unfortunately I'm a little bit late...
1. The Online Recipe Preamble
With all of that said, while it is an ambitious project with all the bells and whistles, I'm optimistic about the outcome and excited to get started.
Thanks in advance to @YveltalGriffin, @CrazyGadget, @Y2K, and everyone else who humored my discord questions...
Hey everyone, I am building my first Ashida. Wanted to make a worklog to track my progress as well as ask a bunch of questions because I am very new to this. I have read a couple other Ashida worklog threads, watched Ginger's Ashida build VOD four times now, gone through the Ashida BOM, G-boy...
Hello all, I've committed myself to building an Ashida as my first and probably only portable build and so here we are.
What I've done already:
3D Printed the Case
Needs sanding (badly)
Chopped a Wii
Took more sanding than I expected to get acceptable resistance values but should be...
Hey everyone ! figured i would document my process as i’m going along i love the idea of being able to look back at the posts like notes. today i received a gamecube controller and a wii classic controller and quickly got to work desoldering components. i removed all the stick boxes, after...
Hey everyone!
I recently started my journey of creating a G-boy. When the original Gboy kit came out, I desperately wanted to build one but didn't have the funds to at the time. Now with Gman's STLs, 4LayerTech, and Dustin Fisher's PCBs, I'm hoping to make one of my own!
I started with...
