Worklog My quest to fix this N64 Portable

Hey :) I'm glad you decided to work on this. I notice that there exposed pieces of metal on both sides of the case in that area. (Like the perfboard.) It's possible that those are touching when the case is closed. I recommend trying a layer of insulation between them to see if that fixes it. If...

This is really nice :D Great work! That case clearly had a lot of work put into it, and it looks very smooth.

    World's Smallest Gamecube Controller

Somebody didn't watch the video :P I got it at Gamestop. They're in little blind grab bags (backpack buddies) that you have to feel to find the right one. If your closest gamestop doesn't have them, you can have them print you out a receipt with the locations near you that do stock them.

Question Portable 64 Repair?? Please help!

To me, this says either loose connection or a short. If it's a loose connection and you find it, it could be an easy fix. If it was a short of some kind, it might be fixable or it might be damaged. It could also be the things Gman mentioned. The batteries really stick out as a red flag...

Question Portable 64 Repair?? Please help!

Please don't trash it lol. I haven't made an n64 portable, but if nobody else more qualified is willing to give it a shot then I'd be willing to take a crack at it. Someone obviously put a lot of work into it (although I heavily question the Samsung batteries) and I'd hate to see it stay broken.

Question Portable 64 Repair?? Please help!

My advice is to contact eBay. Just because the seller says no returns does not mean that they don't have to accept returns. If you start a return through eBay, and the seller doesn't respond, eBay will likely still give you your money back. That said, now that you've taken it apart, that may...

    Custom GameCube Jewel

Hey guys! I've had this project in mind for quite some time, and finally got around to doing it. A while back, I discovered that the black jewel on top of the 001 model Gamecube is actually two pieces of plastic glued together. After separating them, I had the idea to replace the "Nintendo...

    Question Will it be enough?

Yeah unfortunately even with really big heatsinks, you still need airflow. Otherwise all of the heat that they pull off the chips stays in the case and builds up until your wii gets damaged.

Question Ps2 portable battery need help

Stitches is right. If you've been using battery cells without protection, you should discard them and get new ones with protection and battery management. They could be damaged and potentially pose a danger to you or your portable, especially if you've charged them.

Question Wiring the disk drive to the GC motherboard?

You would wire it to where the power from the plug goes to. I think that's the red and black wires from the fan (don't quote me, it's been a while). Make sure you know which side is ground since the red wire might be ground or voltage. You'll need a 14.8v battery pack to get the best battery...

Question Wiring the disk drive to the GC motherboard?

Oof I did that :) If I remember correctly, I just broke off the connectors and wired maually each wire back to where it used to connect. It was a mess, but it has been working fine for over a year

    Worklog The Ultimate Portable

As first wii portables go, this is definitely a solid build :) I am also in the HLH competition and I wasn't confident enough to try building a wii portable in a month, so I'm very impressed that you were able to finish this and make it look nice. I like the black and white in particular (I'm...

    Fixing Gamecube Zenith Screen Bracket

How much power is your intec cable providing? It's possible that even with the right voltage and polarity, it's not supplying enough current (amps) to support your setup. On the plug itself, it should say output ad or dc, polarity with a little picture, voltage, and amps. Generally barrel plugs...

    Hoenn National Pokedex Gameboy

I AM FINISHED! I don't really have much to add to this since it's pretty much just a pi 3 running retropie inside the printed shell :) I like the 3ds slider (THANK YOU SO MUCH @Aurelio for the comparator pinout diagram!) Also thank you @Gman for getting that audio amp to me :) it works...

    Voltage regulator question

If you have a cheap multimeter, the simplest way would be to measure the current (amps) the screen is drawing when it's on.

    Question Help Needed Badly

What battery are you using for the wiimote? I'm inclined to think it's the buttons if they also don't work on a gc controller. That, or wiring. I don't know anything about arcade buttons, but they might not be digital presses. If you replace them all with tact switches and the problem goes...
