this time around I have to go old school and take out the old dusty tools since my 3d printer gave out on me a while back.

I want to thank @Retro95 for printing some parts for me to be able to use on this build.

I also reused some leftover pcbs from @Dustin Fisher and wired up this tiny ps2 controller I had, I tested the controller and it works with joycon analogs.

The only work that needed to be done to the top shell was the left analog I sanded the edges to be able to fit my analog in a different orientation.

For the back I added some gray soft buttons and made some small adjustments to fit another button for L1.

Tiny update I just wanted to say that this is considered to me a weekend project and updates will be slow.

I changed the buttons to these resin ones and clear dpad.

I’ve also added the lcd, but I still don’t know if I should use hdmi or vga or the Shinobi scaler what do you guys suggest best video quality.

Oh wow it's beautiful! I really love those buttons. They look like little gummies.

VGA would probably be plenty on a screen that size.

If you went VGA, then you could also add an electron Shepard VGA to HDMI converter board so you can do video out to a TV.

Cant wait to see more progress!

Analog2HDMI would be one way to go but it does draw roughly 1.5W on 5V - something to consider as that is definitely not a negligible amount of power, but it's less compared to something like Shinobi Scaler, so it's probably your best option.
Unfortunately, that 3.5in display driver doesn't accept 15KHz sources by default, and considering a lot of PS2 games don't support 480p, Analog2HDMI is probably your best option. I'm currently looking into a custom firmware option to allow 15KHz on that driver, but its been slow going. I'll get in touch with you if I figure it out, as that would be your best option in the end.

I have tried this.

The screen goes on and off.

It's not stable unless you stretch out the fcc cable and it doesn't get bend or folded when inside the portable.

That's why I switched back to using VGA screens again because of this.

Tiny update

I finally was able to trim my motherboard I just need to test it to make sure it works.

test fitted it in the case and it fits perfect. I will also be using my analog2hdmi adapter thanks @Y2K for the suggestion.

I hope to get most of the soldering done this upcoming Weekend since it’ll be a 3 day weekend from work.

I then glued my usb adapter to bottom of shell, I also added the vol +/- buttons in place of the standoffs I removed,I also added the regulator button on top left.

does anyone have suggestions on where I should place my select button?

I didn’t want to make a hole in the front shell right above the start since I think it’ll look ugly.
