Hello!

I want to make a portable with a built in sensor bar so I can use wiimotes for certain games, similar to Shank's PiiWii or the Wii U gamepad. Is there anything I should know?

I may be getting ahead of myself, but even then, it would be nice to have this information readily available when I do have the skills necessary to complete a build like this.

Built in sensor bars are possible as you saw there are a couple builds on the forums which showcase this that you can look at. If I remember correctly IR LEDs in the WII sensor bar run off of a higher voltage than the rest of the portable so you need to some 3rd party 3.3v ones of the same wavelength . You should only need two for a small portable. All you need is holes in the case for them to stick out a bit (not too much because it will create interference) and then you could power them through the PMS.

The LEDS are 940nm wavelength, Stitches gave some great info about specific details like spacing here: https://bitbuilt.net/forums/threads/what-wavelength-for-ir-diode.2911/

Also don't double post. If you have something to add just edit your original post
