Question Using a Wii U game pad for a case?

Thinking about making a portable Wii/Gamecube and I was wondering if anyone has ever used a Wii U gamepad as a case. I'm new to this so it might be impractical to use it but I think it might be a good idea. It already has the controls and screen so you're already saving some money. Just a thought.

Gamepad isn't recommended for a first build, despite the clunky nature of the Wii U gamepad there really isn't a lot of space thickness wise for the stuff we need to put in portables. Also, the screen in the gamepad isn't compatible with standard video signals, so you'd need to buy a replacement screen anyways.
