Question I'm new to the portable scene, what portable should I built first?

I want to make a portable, but I don't know which one, I just have too many choices. I cannot build an ashida since my 3d printer is too small to print the case, and I don't want to spend money on getting it printed custom.

Other user-friendly builds are the G-Boy and G-Wii. There's also @Xenii 's Xii-Boy which is essentially a much more streamlined version of the G-Boy with almost no wires. Really it's up to you what you want to make. The Ashida is the most user-friendly build at the moment though.

Real quickly, I will chime in here with my shameless self-promotion and say that I do print Ashida shells for community members for around $40 a shell plus shipping. For more information an pictures of my shells, you can look here. Of course, I understand if you want to make your own shell, I just figured I'd throw it out there in case you wanted a cheaper FDM printed option.

I'd also add that the Xii-Boy Ultra is smaller than the Gboy, meaning it's trickier to fit things inside. You also need to sand the Wii motherboard more. But overall, I consider it as simpler considering there are no wires at all. The wirefree system is great, but also risky, since you can't test things by things, you need to connect everything together and see if it works. It's harder to test, but way faster to assemble or disassemble, and once you get a working unit it's just extremely reliable and easy to take apart.

It's also pretty tricky to assemble the Xii-Boy Ultra boards, since they use really small connectors, but can be a good experience if you have the knowledge

Otherwise, I'm working on kits that will come somehow soon, to make yours the easiest way possible. No need to assemble complicated boards, they would be sold assembled! I'll make a post in my worklog soon to talk about it
