hi so y was scared of posting this (because im shy) so my cusin handed me over his wii and its a black wii (the family revision) and in a cuple of month im probably going to the usa so y want to get as many games as posible but my wii cant read gamecube y know that you can replace the disk drive so it works with mini disk and y also want my wii to look exactly as a retail and solder the components and stuf (all controler ports and memory card slot) but im scared that it dosent look like a retail wii it so y want it to look like an older wii and play gamecube games without nintendont so if you know where y can get the components it would be great (y dont want answers like "just buy a new wii"

also if someone can tell me where is a memory card slot replacement and controler ports, that would help.
also if someone is going to trim a wii contact me so y can get all the gamecube components for me

Hi , on the original wii’s the GameCube and memory card slots where placed at the top underneath 2 separate flaps to cover them from dust however on the family editions Nintendo removed these features and rotated the Wii’s logo to become vertical.

One suggestion I do have though is you can always add homebrew to your Wii and play GameCube games through nintendont as well as buying a GameCube to Wii u gc controller adapter. (Nintendont has a built it storage segment to simulate a virtual memory card )

All the best of luck hope this helps :)

If you want legitimate Gamecube discs to work on a Family Edition Wii, you'll have to remove the disc drive and replace it with an older one that still has the mechanism to load Gamceube discs. There is no way to add that functionality to a Family Edition disc drive, so obtaining a disc drive from a donor Wii/ebay seller/forum user is your only option in this case. IIRC the FE Wiis still have the firmware needed to run GC games, so you don't need to do any extra softmodding for the drive to work.

Same deal for the memcard and controller ports. You'll have to find someone to either buy a donor Wii from to extract the ports, or buy ports from someone here who trimmed them off and doesn't need them. You could potentially buy replacement controller ports from a Gamecube and wire them in, but they will not fit inside the case and will have to flop about outside.
