g-Boy LED replacement

Hello,

I somehow misplaced the LED that came with my PMS lite and have been searching for a suitable replacement. I have purchased the following:

LED - RGB Addressable, PTH, 5mm Clear (5 Pack)

We know this looks like a lot of our other LEDs, but it's not! This is a PTH Addressable RGB LED with a WS2812 control IC built right into the LED. This PTH version is incredibly similar to its SMD cousin, except it is a lot simpler to solder into your pr

This one works, but is too large to fit into the gboy. Perhaps I could chop the top off?

This isn't the exact one, but similar design. I haven't had any luck with these, but it could be due to user error, as the size makes it extremely difficult to solder magnet wire to.

I'm using the g-Boy rev 4 LED PCB, so I would prefer to use a LED that is like the sparkfun one, but shorter. Does anyone have a link to where I can purchase a shorter LED, or is anyone willing to send me theirs? I am willing to cover shipping if so. Thanks!

Hello aydunrad,I've got the same problem when I was doing my gboy too and @supertazon sais to me the best option was to use the second led but I didn't find others LEDs so I guess you need to use them
