I recently attempted to remove the U10 and ended up destroying both it and the U9. From there I ordered their equivalent from Mouser Electronics.
Today I attempted to solder them to the board and had nothing but problems. My U5 pads got ripped off so I could not solder to those, so I used an...
Today I was testing a new trim, everything's fine and I got the classic bootloader usb error. But then I noticed that I forgot to wire the U10! How was the Wii even able to boot?
Hi!
I have tried for a few days now to get my wii to work after being trimmed. Stupid as I was, I trimmed it before moving U10, so I don't know if that is the problem or not. I managed to desolder it losing only one leg, and that leg being one of the ground legs (the ones on the side with 3...
Hey y'all, I'm currently working on my Wii portable. There's several sensitive solder joints on the main Wii motherboard. These include AWG 38 magnet wire soldered to tiny AVE pins, as well as that *one* via that you can solder the U10 wire to. Anyone know how to make sure those wires never come...
Hi! I'm super new to the portablizing scene, so assume I know absolutely nothing because that's exactly true. I bought a Wii on eBay and it turned out the mobo is an RVL-CPU-01 which from what I read is a 6 layer board. So what my question is, what pad do I solder from the u10 to where? I...
I have desoldered U9 (after my attempts at desoldering U10 were unsuccessful), but one of the legs broke off (on the side with two legs). Is it worth trying to solder to the point where the leg broke off from, or should I move on to taking the U10 off another Wii motherboard?
Basically - Is a...
Hey so I took a shot at relocating my U10, and I already ran into some problems. First I couldn’t get the solder to bridge on the U10, and then when I did, I couldn’t manage to get the chip off. Fast forward a few attempts and I’m not actually sure if my U10 is working anymore?
Is there any...
Hello,
I am working on an uncut Wii CPU-020 board. After I did the relocation for the second time, I still get the same problem. So, I removed U10 and later U9, all other steps exactly like the trimming guide suggests.
Pads 4 and 5 are also short on both transistor spots like this thread...
Well, just like the title says my trim isn't booting. The cpu and gpu both heat up slowly. The board worked just fine before the trim, and I have checked all of the regs multiple times. U10 is wired up with the trace cut and is receiving power. Nothing happens for a bit when I turn the power on...
Quick question. For the OM6 trim, does the trace still need to be cut before relocating the U10 transistor? The 6 layer expansion guide mentions that the relocation spot remains available and that only one via needs to be connected but doesn't mention anything about cutting the trace. I didn't...
Just wanted to make sure you're supposed to bridge all 3 lower pins to the 2 lower pins on the board (following the trimming guide)? It's kinda hard to be sure from the image
