    James Channel SNES Portable Recreation

Truly one of the highest quality shitposts this community has seen! Genuinely way too much effort put into recreating this! This is gonna be one hell of a sight to behold in person!

    Screwed Up

The MX Chip uses a coin cell. One side of the coin cell is positive (labeled with a +), and the other side isn't labeled at all (this would be the ground/minus - side): I'm pretty sure the Wii uses 2032s like this one ^ It may be difficult to get the solder to stick to this, so I would...

    Screwed Up

I looked at TP94 on a 4 layer board, and it looks like it's just a ground point. If that's the case, then any other ground point on the MX Chip should work just fine. Are you sure this is where you're supposed to be connecting the positive side of the battery to? I could also be wrong, but...

    Screwed Up

I'm not seeing which exact pad you're referring to, but I will say that each connection you're gonna end up making here is going to end up going to the MX Chip itself one way or another. Soldering directly to the MX Chip isn't difficult, and would likely function as an ideal alternative...

Odd controller behavior only in RV loader

Would definitely help seeing some pictures, but I'm pretty sure this is intentional behavior that happens when both joysticks aren't connected properly (for accessibility sake). I've run into something similar after only wiring up one joystick. If I had to guess, I'd say this means your...

Secret Santa 2025: Post/Discuss your gifts here!

This year my secret santa was @CrashBash which is somewhat fitting because I bought for him last year. Everything came inside a big box which had a cooler inside it: This thing is NOT small! I put a Thinkpad inside it for scale: And there was LOTS of great stuff inside the cooler too...

    Guide Wii Micro Soldering Guide

I'm not really sure I understand this question. If you're talking about melting or liquifying solder on nearby components, then either your iron is too hot, or you're touching the iron to them. Are you able to better explain your problem?

    [Release] A PS2 Portable

This project is just nuts dude! I was hoping this would be open sourced one day, and I'm so glad to see that day finally come! I'll have to build one of these at some point for sure! Very very very cool dude!!!

    Guide Wii Micro Soldering Guide

I would imagine that's probably the best tool to use as I've heard fiber glass pencils are great for removing solder mask. I've never tried it myself though. You'll want to be careful regardless as it doesn't take much to scrape a bit too far. They are tiny vias after all.

Worklog Jakks Pacific Plug & Play - Consolizer

I know this is a bit of a different animal, but this is reminding me of a 6 in 1 Sega Genesis mini console I had growing up. I always thought it'd be neat to try and make like a portable version of it. That said, I think the idea of having this console's video feed accessible locally via...

Question No VGA video output on Ashida

@fluffypenguin covered just about all the bases, but I did want to add that you should really shield the GC Player 1 data line. The Ashida is a very noisy build in general, and the controller inputs can cut out on that line if you don't shield it. I would also recommend experimenting with...

Is video out in a portable possible?

4LayerTech's website covers modding the screen for 3.3v here. This covers power and ground points. The wiring for video itself is really self-explanatory as it's silk screened on to the back of the driver board. The Wii end of the video wiring can be found in The Definitive Wii Trimming Guide...

Solved Looking for 3d printed stand data for Ashida/G Boy stand

Gman gave me permission to share it, so I posted it here since it's more on topic. Enjoy!

    Model G-Boy rev3 case files

I saw someone on the forums asking for the file for the Gboy stand, and after digging extensively on the forums, I wasn't able to find it anywhere. I remember @Gman sending me the stand file on Discord a few years back, and I was able to find it in my file system after a bit of digging. I went...

Solved Looking for 3d printed stand data for Ashida/G Boy stand

The files for the Ashida stand/holder can be found in this thread. I don't think the files for the Gboy stand/holder are public. I do have the file for it, but I wanna ask @Gman if it's okay to share it.

    Cyxty Four N64 portable

You sir have chosen violence... Joking aside, I think this has high potential! The way this mod is made, it should be real easy to stretch it out and add a keyboard in place of the screen. The back end is almost entirely flat though, this was done to accommodate the cartridge slot which...

[2025 Contest Entry] CRT Micro - A Modernized Piece of Tube History

Just got done watching your showcase video. This is such a cool project! I really love what you did with the passthrough! Has so many cool features and it's really wild how you expanded upon it and took this project so much farther than anyone expected! Hoping you do well in the contest man!

    Worklog Jack’s Ashida worklog

It's good that your trim resistances look good, but I will say that the edges of your trim still look rather jagged. The edges are supposed to look smooth like this: You don't need to round your corners or anything, but you really do need to sand until the edges are smooth. Most people start...

Worklog [2025 Summer Contest] Windows 98 Handheld v2

It's so cool seeing a portable PC handheld like this! Love the trackpad integration and everything! I remember theory crafting something similar to this using a Raspberry Pi and Linux, but it's really wild to see a full on Windows 98 machine handheld like this! So cool to see you figure out...
