Question PS2 SSD HDD in a portable

Ever consider the somewhat controversial HD Pro method? https://westingames.diytrade.com/sdp/1000564/4/pd/5991748-2085210/HD_Combo_Pro_HDLoader_System_for_PS2_Slim_SCPH-90.html It works by loading games in BIOS mode using some apparently pretty clever software tricks. The speed is probably on...

Question PS2 SSD HDD in a portable

I can confirm that it is indeed possible to use a SATA SSD through a bridge IC to load games through OPL, I was however never able to make this work consistently. All the games appeared in the loader, but they almost always failed to load properly. I haven't put any work into it for some time...

Question Trace guide for PS2 Slim ZIF connector

Well the fact that there's a modchip on there is fortunate, because it actually uses the reset switch track So what I would recommend you do is solder a momentary switch between that point on the modchip, or on the board where it connects, and GND, this will facilitate the reset function. Send...

Question Trace guide for PS2 Slim ZIF connector

Hit me up if you have anymore questions, I did extensive research on that board, and it actually can be trimmed a bit, to make it a little more squared at least

    Question Battery powering a PS2

It should be safe, however I too think you should use a 7900x model, as it has been all but completely figured out by the devoted members here, and it can be made remarkably small as a result, @Gman is the defacto PS2 board trimming vet here, in fact he wrote the Compendium!! Do see if you can...

    Question Battery powering a PS2

So there are a few things to consider first: Are you using the disc drive or loading from USB and/or ETH? That's actually a big one because it will determine how few cells, and how low of a voltage you can use. The only components that seem to directly use the 8.5 volt rail are the disc drive...

    Worklog PCSX2 Device

I want to be able to do it within the system software, that same way you control the brightness on your phone screen (it basically is a phone screen). The backlight LED's brightness seems to depend on where to voltage is between 3.3 and 5 volts.

    Worklog PCSX2 Device

Okay here's a question for the community: How might one make a circuit to control the brightness of an LCD, basically just something that could, on the command of say.. a GPIO pin or two, vary a voltage between 3.3 and 5 so as to increase or decrease the brightness of a panel?

At the risk of seeming like a pleb, I think it's time I engage the community once again, because as we all know, everything we don't know someone else does. So here's what I've been working on; Its a Windows machine, which will run PCSX2 (and whatever else it can handle), and every game that's...

    Worklog Trim the SCPH-90xxx board

As long as you can solder to the traces and/or vias, its more than possible to cut off the controller port 1 section of board, it might just be necessary to supplement the resistors, that or just use controller port 2 all the time, provided that isn't a problem either. PS If you aren't using...

    Question Dreamcast VRAM Upgrade?

So I found this post: https://forum.beyond3d.com/threads/this-is-what-an-extra-8mb-of-video-memory-does-to-a-dreamcast.51971/ And it got me to thinking, how feasible would it be to simply get ahold of a few of the chips from the Atomiswave (I already found some) and replace the ones on the...

DIY BGA you say... Dammit I feel a redesign coming on lol Anyway like I said the i2c on the CXM4015AR is just for the main PS2 factory configurations, in normal gaming mode they are unused, that's why mine doesn't include them

    Worklog PS2WP

Those 4 pads at the right are the I2s points for audio, and as for the I2c points (SDA SCL) on the CXM4015AR, I think those are just for factory configuring the chip for PS2 resolutions and such after it's been soldered to the motherboard, The PS2 actually uses a system wide I2c bus for this...

Ha!! That's actually amazing because I just finished making a riser of sorts for my CXM4015AR replacer, I love that we both decided on the same method for standardising the 24 bit RGB lines for development, and I love the way yours looks!! Does yours include the clock signal though? Mine is...
