Yeah, I used the screen before. And it worked. And now I got it working again :) It was the flat cable. Well, it is giving me a black screen though. Edit: I think it might just be the input settings of the screen. I used it in AV mode last time. But I'm at work now :eyeroll:

Small update: The screen does not light up, I'll have to investigate this issue tomorrow. I measured a voltage of 4.7v on the display board. Should be enough, what do you think? Maybe the flat cable is just loose somewhere. Sadly I can not work on it as much as I want atm :/

What a weekend... Only got few things done... But still. Here's some update: I had to stop working in the middle of the process... Need to sleep:eyeroll: Hopefully I can test these whole thing tomorrow.

I finally cut out the mainboard :eyeroll: And a close up of the new white buttons: And yes, it appears I could have placed the buttons a tiny little bit more to the right :rothink:

Ok guys, first thing when making a portable? Make a plan what you want it to have... If not, or if sloppy, you might forget some crucial parts in your finished case  I forgot the headphone jack... Luckily it was rather easy to drill a hole inside the bottom part... (The right one) It...

Ok, last update for today. The printer is still working, so I might as well take the test of the day off ;) (The mainboard is an old one) Ok, one more :)

So... The front is nearly finished. Put the controls in and everything fits perfectly :). I had to sand the front down quite a bit. But as a result it is now almost perfectly smooth and shiny ;) (second picture). I am happy with it. Thank you guys for your help and advice for the print.

Yes it is :) It's called HD-glass. But it is not as strong as normal PLA, so I've combined it with carbon-PLA on the backside. Otherwise the portable would be too soft and too easy to bend/flex.

So I printed the back for a second time, as I said without a raft. Turned out way better :) After an hour of sanding and cutting little blobs off of the part I think I will use this. You can still see the wrinkled lines on the upper side... Maybe I will sand it some more :eyeroll: Long story...

Ok Guys, the print with a raft is a no go for me. Not only did it take a long time to finish, the result is not ok. It is even, but see it for yourself: The filling was nice though with some support. I set it to 0.1mm apart from the outline and that looks good. Whatever. I'm printing it...

Thank you very much, but I'll stick with my printer for now. Maybe I'll share the files some day. But for me... I'm happy with my printer and self printed designs :)

Ok ok, I will try to print them upside down :P. I already have the material so I can just try it out. I did not tbh. At least not for the test prints. But I will change that. I'll try it with and without. My printbed is not 100% flat, what makes it difficult for me to get good results without...

That is a very good idea o.O I think that would help a lot. Why didn't I think about this?? xD One problem is remaining, the curvature. To show you what I mean: The left one is printed the way I print them now. The right one is a test print upside down.

:D Maybe it depends on the printer. My test prints are printed face down. Maybe I need to tweak the settings more, but with large prints I always had this issue

Because the quality of the first layer is never as good as of the last layer. Most of the time you get this ugly wrinkles (on larger prints), and the curvature on the sides looks messy when printed upside down. The support feature works very good with my prints and support is very lightweight...

First part printed. But it didn't turn out good... Need to change some settings for the printer (skirt for example). Still, the effect is nice imo. You can see it in the following pictures. Sadly I am not able to capture the whole effect with a camera :| The most obvious thing is the broken...

You mean that one? Yes, it is a start button. For some emulators I would map the Z-button as select. Thank you for your compliment. :)

I finally finished the design of the case. All thats left is the printing and bringing everything together ;) I want to print it in transparent blue (PETG / HD-Glass). Not sure though if it will be sturdy enough... I'll give it a shot. If it doesn't work I'll let you know. In the meantime...

Thank you for your support:) I finally decided for a name and change the title accordingly. Hope to get some more things done in the next days. This name is fancy, isn't it? There is nothing printed yet, maybe I'll 'adjust' it a bit xD.
