    Broken contrast slider old laptop

Pure speculation but it could be a capacitor issue, especially since it looks like that screen is using those janky caps that sent many a Game Gear to the landfill. Don't know if it would be worth replacing all the screen's caps for a 24 year old laptop, but if you have the time and effort, it...

who came here because of the forum name "bitbuilt" and expected for binary file editing here?

I came here because @Doom told me some fool trimmed a wii mobo to the size of a game boy cartridge.

    Worklog RDP 64

Hey Pacal - love the case design! It's not too flashy but has just enough character that I would be excited to play a store-bought portable built like this.

    Worklog Wii WVI V.2

Probably a good idea to keep your eyes away from the fumes as well. In general, treat the stuff very carefully. I usually let it sit overnight. A couple of really nice things about using melted ABS: -As it begins to dry (usually within 10-15 minutes depending on how runny your mixture starts)...

    Worklog Wii WVI V.2

Take chunks of discarded ABS plastic from dismantled consoles, controllers, etc. Place in a large glass jar. Pour in pure acetone (found near paint thinners in stores that sell paint). Stir + wait about a day = ABS cement/goop. If it's too runny it just means there's too much acetone. No...

    Worklog Portable Wii WVI (WIP)

Great job! I really wanted to make something like this but kind of lost interest when I found BitBuilt and saw how small a Wii could be trimmed. Still nice to see one of these made. No need. They look fine on my 22" work monitor - not too big, not too small. Honestly, I hate clicking thumbnails...

What Hard Drive To Use 2TB Question

Love that mentality. I've only played through about 45% of my 1000+ collection of games. That's why I don't want to devote hundreds of hours to a single game. When I stopped playing Final Fantasy XI, I gave away all my items and gil. Somebody in game suggested I hang onto it in case I want to...

What Hard Drive To Use 2TB Question

Based on your other thread (link for posterity), my guess is that most, if not all hard drives would be too slow for use in PortablizeMii. I was using an SD card in my setup for awhile even though the PM team says not to. It worked, but after I switched to a working flash drive, I noticed an...

Question my hard drive loads slow get no config file found

Trim the board as in making it smaller so that it fits into a portable much more easily. In doing so, you get rid of a bunch of extra components including the wifi module connector. If you still want wifi on a trimmed board, you would have to hardwire the wifi module directly to the trimmed...

    Model N64p - Pak-Slot (for Frankencasing)

    A) That's pretty dope. 2) I wouldn't consider 99% of what I learn from this hobby useless. I've developed a serious "I can fix that" mentality around the house thanks to skills I've learned through portablizing. D) Even if I never use it, thanks for sharing the files!

Worklog PS2p: 3 years Hiatus... Comeback!

It definitely has a strong odor. Can't say that I know what rugby smells like though... Anything marine grade is intended to be used on a finished product that is expected to be in or around water. Since I have no intention of ever taking a portable on a boat, I've never used marine putty.

Worklog PS2p: 3 years Hiatus... Comeback!

Ay yo cfc, hope this helps. In short, I recommend epoxy or melted ABS for structural work, Bondo for leveling out nooks and crannies, and glazing putty (not mentioned in the video) for fine detail work to cover small cracks.

    Bundle of Wiis

If I was wholesale making Wii portables, I would have considered it. Even at $110 including shipping, that's less than $7/Wii, assuming it was just bad disk drives on them. Sadly, I have 3 working Wiis waiting to be trimmed that I just don't have time for.

Question Any idea where I can get a WODE or a WASP?

I know I'm just sticking my hand an open flame here, but here goes... If you haven't figured this out by now, Shank will advocate Wii portables over Gamecubes til the day he dies. It's become a bit of a running joke. I wouldn't take it personally because he gives the same spiel to everyone else...
