It is never a good idea to use a wii optical drive for anything else. The wii optical drive is meant to read wii disks. If you want a disk reader, just buy one. You should just throw the disk drive away.

I used bondo to make mine look smooth. It is fairly simple to use and sands down nicely. I used hot glue on the inside, but the bondo is on the outside and it turned out really nice. Good luck on v2

If you want a quick solution, you could buy a gc+ for the 3ds slider capability. And then you could always buy a gamecube to classic controller converter. Then all you would have to do is wire the gc+ to the converter. It is probably not the best fix, but it would work.

It has been awhile since I posted. I have finished the front of the case. But I just received @JacksonS amp in the mail. So I have not put in his speakers yet. But the rest of the front of the case is done. I hope to get the rest of it done this week.
