Little progress update, got my second PCB finished and all soldered up. All keyboard/mouse programming for the controller done, still need to put some work into the gamepad mode as I haven't really looked at it yet. Tested my battery monitoring solution and it isn't going to work, connecting the...

Great info, thanks! Definitely didn't know I could add other games to steam. Even if I don't use it on this it'll definitely help on my main pc! The wifi is definitely slow (barely even usable) but with a 5G wifi dongle plugged in its fine since the antenna on the dongle is external. Haven't...

Interesting. I haven't honestly used much steam so I really can't comment on how it functions. I do know most of the games I want to run on it aren't on steam though, so getting controller mapping at least close to correct is a good idea. I do plan on trying steam link with it to see if I can...

Nonsense! There's plenty of other great entries too! I'm sure there are more criteria than just the housing design/finish. Mine is far less electrically complex than a lot of the other entries so they definitely all deserve some points for that! Thanks mate! Its not really that close to the...

Thanks mate! Yeah once I saw the matte finish I knew I couldn't bring myself to polish it! Here's a bit more photo-spam for everyone. Made some more progress with the buttons, thinking I'll leave the start and select buttons aluminium and just sink some black paint into the engravings as I'm...

I wouldn't be too worried, there's plenty of other great looking projects on here and plenty of other people doing far more complicated stuff with their electronics. You can still vote for it if you want, I don't mind ;) We had a pretty lazy day here so it was a great time to load up some...

Much happier with the acrylic! I was going to polish it but I'm actually quite liking the matte finish so I've decided to keep it like that. Still heaps of work to do, need to make the remainder of the buttons, the heatsink/fan mount, the left side PCB and tidy up the wiring inside. One thing...

Yeah I figured it would dry eventually. I painted the housing of my CNC with enamel and I didn't notice the long drying time with it, however because I don't have to hold it to use it I wouldn't have felt how tacky it was while it was still drying. I'm much more familiar with automotive style...

Okay, this paint was a huge mistake. Its had a full 24hr's to dry and it still feels tacky. Its also impossible to sand, it just clogs the sand paper up immediately. Have done a quick bit of research and I think the paint I should have used was acrylic, rather than enamel. So time to break out...

Got some white on this afternoon. Looking good, little bit of an "orange peel" effect in the paint at the moment, but should be able to get rid of that with some 2000 grit sand paper before I move on to the clear coat tomorrow. Also chucked the touch screen digitiser in to see how it looks in...

Oh I like this! Always been a fan of the original GBA shape. Keen to see how this one turns out!

First few coats of metal primer applied and sanded. This is probably the final coat of primer before I move on to colour. Managed to fill up most of the bits I wasn't happy with and the finish is looking great so far! Didn't take much sanding to get a nice smooth surface. Should be able to get...

Something tells me they wouldn't be keen on the 35 or so hours of machine time in the housing alone haha. Plus they've already got their own, they just need to put them on sale already! Didn't make much progress this weekend as Covid restrictions are finally lifting in our area so we were able...

Okay so small update. First semi successful run of buttons. Not exactly what I had in mind but I don't hate them so they'll do for now.

Oh yeah, and mine are addressable RGB. So with two LED's per ring I should be able to make a few interesting effects!

I'm going for glossy white. Hopefully with a good clear coat it should stay fairly clean. Can always sand it off and repaint in future if I decide I don't like it! You must have missed my earlier picture, I've got the glowing rings sorted ;)

Thanks mate, I had a look at it but probably still stick with white for this one. I just think the black screen surround and buttons are really going to pop with a white case. Haha thanks, probably a bit difficult though as I assume I'm in the wrong country! I'd be happy to take a look at the...

I hadn't really considered any colours other than white. Perhaps I should test a few other colours on the model before I decide... not quite sure what you mean by galaxy silver. I did a Google search but didn't get any direct links to a brand/colour of paint.

Thanks mate! Yeah that's what I'm thinking too, carbon is just too good to cover up. As much as I am also a fan of the machined look, the machining on this is no where near neat enough plus bare aluminium marks up pretty easily. I could anodise it but because the body is made out of multiple...

Alright guys, I need your opinion because I'm torn. Do I leave the back cover as-is or do I paint it gloss white when I paint everything else?
