Worklog Waker of the Wiind - Ginger's Second Wii Portable

Good stuff mate! Does Eagle not have footprints (feetprint?) for common components like microUSB? I guess I can understand if it doesn’t; I toyed around with KiCAD a bit but for the life of me couldn’t find an HDMI port footprint. I thought it was pretty weird.

    WiiBoy XL

Looks downright amazing! Happy to see you’ve incorporated so many components that spawned from this site alone, including some love for Air Conditioner’s design files!

    Worklog The DreamPad

I don’t understand a good chunk of the work going on here, but I see results and I’m excited for you! Do you have more info on the controller? I chopped one up for a project once but couldn’t get the analogs (including trigger buttons) to work after and I assume it was due to those hal sensors...

    Worklog VOS MOD's Second N64 Portable - The "N64C"

Bad news, amigo. Tony Hawk 1 and 2 both look for the memory card in controller 1. Even before I get to the main menu, it notifies me that a controller pack isn’t in controller 1 so it can’t save. I then tried to load a game (even though I don’t have a THPS save on my card) but it told me to...

    Worklog VOS MOD's Second N64 Portable - The "N64C"

I think so, but I’d have to check. If you need me to, I can test tonight with one of the Tony Hawk games, since I know those require a memory card.

PS2 Portable As Cheap As Possible

Meh. I had to hang a guitar body from the shower after painting. Dang. From your other thread I was going to guess one of the Wipeout games. They’re pretty similar, right? Good work on the finished portable! Interesting choice in batteries, but really nice that you can swap them out.

    Worklog VOS MOD's Second N64 Portable - The "N64C"

This is coming along quite nicely - love it! I made a weak guitar amp out of an lm386 once - probably the exact same circuit. I’m curious how the 64 sounds through it, although the piezos will probably be the real killer. Fortunately there aren’t too many audiophiles in this hobby; people seem...

    Nold's Pad64

Looks awesome! I love the shape of the case, the colors, and the twin buttons on each of the grips! Yeah, maybe it’s a bit big, but still much less wasted space than the internals of a stock 64. I’m looking forward to updates on your DreamPad!

    Worklog VOS MOD's Second N64 Portable - The "N64C"

Lots of people go with the squishy tacts because they require less force to press, so you should be able to button mash all the faster. Your call really. I replaced the bad L and R tacts on a DS with regular clicky tacts and the kid I did it for loved it. I had to solve the angled C button...

    Worklog VOS MOD's Second N64 Portable - The "N64C"

That vac form turned out really great! I’ve not used one of those superpads in a portable, but I have one in my collection. I don’t love it because it feels clunky and the Z button stopped working. I’d suggest taking out the control board and wiring up your own squishy tact’s. The analog always...

    Original Xbox?

I appreciate those links. Without them I would have pulled an Andy Dwyer at-this-point-I’m-too-afraid-to-ask.

$10 3.5" Screen? Has anyone used one of these?

For anyone still thinking of getting one of these, it looks like the seller stopped selling them individually. However, you can get a lot of 10 for $50. At $5/screen, how can you go wrong? I’m thinking of doing that and being set for life.

    Wii Portable

Buy some keyboards. That way Grebbles will know you’re good for the portable.

Your model looks really good! Best of luck with the vac forming. Have you done vacuum forming previously? If you’re a bit tight on space, I would definitely recommend going with the further trim in the guide. I thought it was pretty easy to do and you can easily see from the guide which traces...

    Late night modding

Well alright. In that case, I have another. Made this child-sized picnic table in the summer of 2016 after I saw a similar one at my parents' house. Buncha lumber. Pieced together the tabletop. Added legs. Made sum benches. At this point I made a total bonehead mistake; the table legs...

    Worklog G-Luma 64

@JoJo nice idea! I hadn't thought about that - actually forgot about Gloomba, if he even made an appearance in TTYD, which is the only Paper Mario I've played so far. For lack of better ideas, I may just take that theme and run with it. Anyway, after much troubleshooting, I'm happy to announce...

    Question Soldering Iron Suggestions

I’m not going to dump on the 888 because I’m sure it’s a quality tool, but even the lowliest of the Hakko brand is good stuff. I have a Hakko 508 that I got 3 years ago and it works great! I may not use it as much as some other modders would, but it has held up and I haven’t needed to change the...
