    Wii SP 2.0

Thanks, I've been using KiCad since I started PCB design. There are probably better options, but it's the only one I've used. I may upload the PCB designs for public use at some point (along with the 3D model for the case), but I'm not sure on that, and if I do it won't be for a while.

    Wii SP 2.0

Thank you! Yeah, that's the idea, to maximize the compatibility with Wii games (although I do regret not having a nunchuck). I'm adding something else soon to make things a little more compatible ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

    Wii SP 2.0

Using custom PCBs this time around has really helped me consolidate the designs I had before and get rid of wires, but it's also allowed me to make some new circuits and add some new features. Maybe the most important new feature is that I can use FFCs instead of routing individual wires, so...

    Wii SP 2.0

Yes, I think 3D printing a case makes it much easier to get what you want. Learning CAD software is easier that making a case by hand in my opinion.

    Wii SP 2.0

I don't have a 3D printer, so @Shank has been printing my cases and shipping them to me, which is a great help. Before I can paint it, I have to glue on the bezel (printed separately) and fill in all the gaps with Bondo. It's ugly to begin with, but with a lot of sandpaper it came out looking...

    Wii SP 2.0

Thanks, it is one of my favorite features. And it's about to get a lot more wizard-y.

    Wii SP 2.0

UPDATE: Here's the finished product! Internals: Features: The portable contains an internal GameCube Controller, internal Wii Remote, and internal Classic Controller that can be switched with a button. These diagrams indicate the changes in button layout for each controller...

    Wii Classic Controller to Gamecube

If anyone knows how to emulate a GameCube controller, I would say it's Aurelio. The GC+ is open source and should provide some insight into what you're trying to do, although it's written in PIC assembly, not C. Unfortunately there are very few other projects online that try to emulate a...

    Solved Wasp Fusion Issues

Press the eject button? I thought that icon just exits from the Swiss menu.

    Speakers

I'm not, but it isn't too hard to create your own, and I can help with that if you want. Also check out the WiiHUD thread. Aurelio has made a similar amp using the LM49450 and it works on digital input from the Wii instead of analog. Whenever it goes on sale, that will be a good option too.

    Speakers

LM49270 is just the IC (one of the best analog amps in my opinion). The only PCB I know of for it is one I designed. Another good choice is the PAM8803, a 3W amp that is available on several different PCBs. You might need fairly large speakers for that one.

    Speakers

He's using the LM49270 amp. Those rectangular speakers he linked are the ones I selected for the LM49270 after a lot of testing; try lots of different speakers depending on what amp you're using to find what works best. Thicker speakers generally offer more bass. Some other speakers that have...

    GameCube Advance SP (GCA SP)

This is awesome, very well-organized and solid. It's really nice that you used all the original screw mounts for your parts. That's some really nice attention to detail :).

    Solved Audio issue

Prettt much any of the points you found are good to use. Obviously if you take the audio at the output of the filtering caps, it may be filtered better, but that could be negligible. The same goes for all the other small capacitors and resistors; you can bypass them if you want becuase including...

Question Calling all noobs (noob question thread)

The newer 3DS joysticks do have thru-holes so that you can access the pads from the back. For the old ones, you can peel off the ribbon cable and solder to the large rectangular pads underneath. You may want to put your iron on top of the cable while you're peeling it off so the solder melts...

How much did you spend on your portable?

With all the prototyping and various almost-worked-but-not-quite designs that have gone into it, I've spent almost $500 so far.

Question Why is my Wii's video output extremely fuzzy and black?

You should either switch the power to the screen or switch the video signal to the screen. It's better to keep ground connected.

    Solved Video Interference

Try connecting ground to the other end of the shielding. It shouldn't be able to cause any issue unless you have a poor ground connection somewhere else. When you put it all inside a case, you can route the video cable away from the regulators.

Worklog Madmorda's First Wii Portable (Wii S Lite)

Connecting the video sense line to 3.3v to enable component does disable composite, unfortunately. But that may be a good thing for you because the screen should go into the sleep mode when component is enabled and there's no composite signal.

Solved Wii U Gamepad Buttons in Wii Portable

I don't have any pinouts, but there are 5 wires for each joystick because one of the wires in the button. The other 4 are voltage, GND, X, and Y.
