The Wii U has entirely different hardware from the Wii, the backwards compatibility is done via virtualization. You'll need an actual 4 layer Wii for a portable.
The BitBuilt store was shut down early last year. It is no longer possible to buy a G-Boy kit unless you get one second hand. Your best bet if you want to build a portable right now is the Ashida. https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/ashida-wii-portable.4529/
You can, but it's going to end up being just as if not more expensive than a PMS-Lite unless you're building a bunch of them. It also won't have the RVLoader integrations.
After working on and off on this for the past couple months, I'm finally in a state where I'm comfortable calling this thing done. I've had 2 very long play sessions without a single issue, and all the functions are working flawlessly. My build uses a PCBWay UTR-8100 translucent case. I was...
Alright, I've been slacking a little bit on updating this worklog, so before I upload my "Cutting Edge" post, here are some things that happened to me. Due to either frustration or excitement I didn't get photos of a lot of things I probably should of in hindsight, so you're going to have to...
So, I finally was able to start actually putting my portable together. I had some case clearance issues that caused me to have to remove the trigger guards. I also discovered you have to slightly cut the ABXY membrane in order for it to fit right.
Additionally, I actually trimmed my Wii. It was...
Welp, it's update time I guess. The tolerances on my original case were off by just enough to totally screw everything up. I noticed this when the screen showed up and I near broke it trying to press it in. So I caved and went the PCBWay route. The case is pretty good, my one major annoyance is...
As of right now the files are not available publicly. Although, GMan has said that he's planning on releasing files compatible with the 4layertech boards at some point.
I think you got this from my post in the "Consoles that I think should be trimmed" thread, so I'll answer this one. I was talking about the NES and SNES classic console released in 2016 and 2017. Since those are literally official emulation boxes, they're the exact same motherboard, just in...
The closest you can get to a true step by step guide is the G-Boy manual. https://manual.bitbuilt.net/guide/g-boy-rev-3-complete-kit-assembly/ Even if you're not building a G-Boy, it's still a very good resource. Other than that all the information you'll need is spread throughout the forums...
After the whole G-Boy situation, I still wanted to build a portable and was going to build a G-Wii, but then I saw the Ashida and decided to hold out until I could build one. Now that the files are out I can finally start. I printed the case in Atomic Filament's clear filament, which is a very...
