    Question Are this components needed?

On the motherboard of the Wii there are some components, of which I don't know the function, and I was thinking if they are essential for the functioning of the Wii or if they can be removed

For now I just reproduce the original circuit, so if there is a problem in the test phase I can find the problem easily

I already plan to add test points, so I can connect the screen and the remaining circuit boards easily

I am still finishing the PCB, but you can already see that I have added a point to connect the Bluetooth module. The rear is still very messy with some components missing

So, I made some really good progress. :D Obviously I haven't finished recreating the Wii circuit yet, but I managed to finish the front and rear connections between GPU, CPU and RAM, which were the most difficult of all (hoping they are right and do not give problems:XD:). Now all the rest is...

I had to redo some lines because I had so many wrong measurements. After this I start making the side on the back.

I can't say exactly what the dimensions will be, also because I recently ordered 4layertech PCBs and I have to see how much space they take up. A quick size estimate might be around 17x7.5cm. But remember that these are more or less the dimensions that the prototype would have. The final PCB...

New update I managed to finish the missing layers. Now I will start making the circuit drawing and as soon as it is finished I will order the PCB

Obviously something like this is quite difficult to realize, but if you know what to do or you have good instructions it can be replicated quite “easily”. Maybe if this project is successful, I could make a guide so that everyone can know what are the tools and skills needed to make a portable...

Wow amazing job. I would say it would be a pleasure to compare our projects. But I'll tell you right away that I'm basically new to the world of electronics, so many of the things you tell me I'll struggle to understand immediately what they are:XD:

This is such a long and hard process, but after all looks pretty good

That's exactly what I want to do. Taking Wii modifications to the extreme level

The goal is to use all the necessary components of the Wii, including the MX chip and bluetooth. Necessary boards like U Amp, GC + ... will also be included. Just one circuit board with everything on it.

Just finished making the connections of the first layer on KiCad, only 3 remaining:XD::blush:

The diagram I created is for reference only. When I have to recreate the circuit I will try to replicate the connections as best as possible

I tried with a heated base, the problem was that I took off the pcb and started removing the GPU too late, and than some pads came off. Next time i think i’m trying to remove everything with a hot air station.

Yes it’s really hard, but in particupar is very hard to remove them. In fact, the first time I tried to unsolder the GPU, I didn't heat it very well and some pads broke. Now I bought a new Wii and I hope not to break anything

I'm not actually going to use any tipe of trim. My project involves a complete relocation of all Wii components, so I will create a custom pcb that will have all the components I need on it

I am using the compedium as a reference to create the file on sprint layout. The advantage is that it is even easier and faster to understand what the various tracks are. I'm making this file also because I need it for my Wii portable project, because I have the goal of making it as slim as...
