Question Project prep and advice requested

Yep, so at the bottom where it shows red/black/yellow lines connecting the batteries to the board, you can attach 2 like that, or as the bottom-right corner says, "unlimited parallel." Shown by the dotted lines. 2 pairs are shown in the picture, and you'll be extending that down to 4 or 5 pairs...

Question Project prep and advice requested

I'll try to answer your question, but I'm still learning this stuff myself: At the bottom of that Batteries page (which is an awesome goldmine of info) you'll see that the capacity of an individual 18650 cell bounces around 2500 mAh, with those Panasonics getting very close to 3000. That's for...

Question How to use 3DS sliders?

There seems to be a "best" way (or at least a "community best practice") for just about every technical/non-aesthetic aspect of building a portable console. But something I haven't managed to glean from reading worklogs is the best way to use a 3DS slider on, say, an N64 portable. From what I...

    Question Li-po/18650 in a new 3ds

Oh that would be awesome. The DS batteries I used had only + and -, does the n3ds have 3 terminals?

    Question Li-po/18650 in a new 3ds

3DS (and N3DS) batteries are indeed 3.7v, so the charging circuitry will work with other 3.7v batteries. But where would you put a 18650? Edit: I've wired up 2 DS batteries in parallel, to power a GBA. Worked fine.

    Audio Amp Recommendations

Ok. Or a stereo pot if someone still wanted to use a PAM8803 with analog controls

    Audio Amp Recommendations

Sorry to be a newb, but can't you just add a pot to the input line, and have analog volume control for any amp? How do these PAM chips handle it differently having it "integrated?"

Worklog Game Boy Micro in a SNES controller

I finally came across another micro that powers on but looks like death. Perfect! The first thing I did was hot glue the tiny daughterboard to the motherboard, to avoid another accident. The speaker on my first micro was busted, so it's good to have a working one again. I've got the ABXY buttons...

Worklog Game Boy Micro in a SNES controller

I have another micro (that doesn't power on for some reason) that I was able to use to identify points on the main board that connect to the button ground, start button, select button, and LEDs. Lots of guessing, but I found them. Some of the contact points were tiiiiiny pinholes that were...

Worklog Game Boy Micro in a SNES controller

It broke really close to the daughterboard. I scratched off the coating to find that there are 4 traces. (start, select, LED, ground?) There's so little of the ribbon cable attached to the tiny board that there's no way I can solder to it, but it's just enough to do some continuity tests if I'm...

Worklog Game Boy Micro in a SNES controller

I've actually been working on this for a long time, but I rarely have time for this stuff. I figure I'll make a worklog here as a way to keep myself working on it. I had a horribly beat-up (functional) Micro and a non-functional SNES controller, so I decided to do the obvious. The plan is to...

    Worklog GB Boy Colour

Any progress on this? I'm very interested in the dual-cart idea. I should pick up a GBBC and study it. I tried to mod a DMG to have 2 cart slots, but I couldn't work out a non-cumbersome way to switch between the 2 carts. I tried switching the ground pin (#32 I think) but that didn't quite do...

    GameCube Advance SP (GCA SP)

Mindblowing. What an awesome, fresh idea. Not sure if anyone else has done anything similar, but I've never seen anything like it. This is the kind of thing that inspires me to make time for tinkering again. Very well done!

    Worklog Noah's JB64

What's that circular board that the speakers are hooked up to? Hmm, headphone port, USB micro port (for power?), volume control, and a (power?) switch. Some external speaker thing? What did you take apart to get that? I guess the headphone port is for sound IN.
