Question What’s a Mid tier 5 inch screen I could buy?

I'm not sure if this is really relevant anymore, but I've finally acquired another 79001 series ps2 that actually works. I also had the opportunity to test out the car backup screen I got. I'm going to admit it, it isn't the nicest screen out there, but its not too bad for 22 dollars and a...

Question What’s a Mid tier 5 inch screen I could buy?

Your best bet is a car rear view monitor. I know people hate it, but it isn't bad in my opinion. I've attached a video of a portable that uses a car rear view screen.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Add some tape or maybe shrink-wrap to prevent any problems.

Question Safety Tips while working on portables

I do all my work outside. I'll look at getting a face shield. for a mask, what would you recommend? I don't think a KN-95 works well.

Question Safety Tips while working on portables

Yesterday, I tested positive for COVID-19, and lost the motivation to build my PS2 portable. I know that the project didn't cause me to get sick, but I've lost confidence in soldering and using a rotary tool. I just can't figure out how to build a portable without getting sick. What are some...

    Worklog Chunchunmaru - A PS2 Portable

6/8/22 I’ve finally done it. I trimmed the motherboard. To be honest, it was scary. My primary concern wasn’t ruining the motherboard, but my health and safety was a concern. It’s not worth getting cancer. I made sure to trim outside, wear protective eyewear, a KN-95 mask and gloves. Trimming...

Well, you can check the 3D repository to see if it was 3D scanned. If it's not available, you can also check online. If not, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

    Worklog Chunchunmaru - A PS2 Portable

I'm using a rotary tool with a diamond tip on it. I do have access to a hot air station, so I'll try using that first. Thanks for the advice, but what's chip saver? I'm sure there are other good options, but PTH regulators were the most common before the PMS came to be. I already have the...

Question Testing 3D Design Without a 3D Printer

I've recently broke the female power connector on my PS2, and I need something to test the regulators with. Instead of ordering a replacement socket on eBay, I've decided to design a port to save some money and to use an auger pin my dad bought off Amazon. For this I used the power of image...

    Worklog Chunchunmaru - A PS2 Portable

I utilized the advice @Customledmods gave to me, and used brute force to remove the ports. For the controller and memory card ports, I'm sure I can get away with using a good ol solder sucker to take it off. I want to salvage it because I want to implement the ports instead of having an...

I'm planning on buying a resistor kit off amazon, any suggestions? Another question regarding regulators. For custom regulators, how far can I deviate from the guide's prescribed voltage (ex: 3.5V line on PS2). Is there a specific number or percent?
