    Ps2 motherboard question

It'd be advisable to get the "portable" together and working first, then choose a case around your design. If you look at Ben Heck's Dreamcast build, he organizes the components then makes the general shape of the case. If you're up to the challenge, you can try to learn creating a case w/ 3d...

    Worklog Chunchunmaru - A PS2 Portable

Thanks for clearing everything up! With the confirmation, I've finally completed the larger and less practical PS2PMS. I've implemented the one port charge or play circuit. Compared to the two port, the one port was the easiest to implement. For charging, I'm planning on usb USB type C PD since...

    Worklog Chunchunmaru - A PS2 Portable

7/7/22 It’s been a while since I’ve last posted on my worklog. Last week, if I'm not mistaken, I went to test my PS2 motherboard, but it didn’t turn on. In retrospect, I used an alternate power source for the 1.8V linear reg and forgot to hook ground. It was an overall unplanned mess. With...

    First ps2 portable

-It does look like some kind of protection circuit. In regards to the battery capacity rating, it'd usually be on the battery itself. - For the 3.7V battery pack, I don't think it'll works off the bat. For an untrimmed and unmodified ps2 79000x, you're able to power it off a 7.4V battery. It...

    Question power converter board

That's tough. To be honest, your best option is to do the standard trim. you can use a 7.4V battery pack to power the board and have one reg for the 5V line.

    Question power converter board

For the 1.25V reg, it won't output enough current. the 1.25V voltage line will require 3.1A. For the 2.5V and 5V line, it should work. Finally, the 1.75V can work, but it will be unstable. Its recommended to use a linear regulator. For my setup, I'm using two PTH regs, one PTR reg and a...

    Worklog Chunchunmaru - A PS2 Portable

The PTH and PTR reg will run off a min of 4.5V. For the linear reg, it doesn't give a minimum. For the 5V reg, it does require a minimum of 6V, but I'm sure you can get a boost converter.

    Worklog Chunchunmaru - A PS2 Portable

6/30/22 It’s been a while since I’ve last updated the worklog. I was able to get some wiring stuff done. For the first go, I’m impressed. It’s a lot cleaner than I anticipated. I was also able to wire up the regs entirely. It’s not the cleanest, but I’ll work on it whenever I can. With...

    Question Ps2 VGA

Did you wire up H and V sync?

    Question Ps2 VGA

VGA at 480i should be perfectly fine for all games. If your screen supports 480i, you should be good. Alternatively, you can also wire up composite and switch channels whenever appropriate.

    Question Ps2 VGA

The guide mentions that "The CPU outputs a 1.7v logic level Horizontal and Vertical sync so native VGA can be easily achieved using the sync signals and RGB; no need for a YPbPr-to-VGA converter. However, most PS2 games do not support progressive video so your screen should be compatible with an...

Solved Will all of the parts work together?

I don't see why not. Also, you'll need to design a cooling system to prevent overheating.

Don't forget about battery clips if you're implementing the battery holders in your 3d print.

    Worklog Chunchunmaru - A PS2 Portable

Alrighty, so I’ve basically recovered from COVID-19 (2 negative tests in a row. Adequate sample size in my opinion). It’s a pain in the ass, so its not worth getting it. On the bright side, I picked up the 3d printed fume extractor I designed then assembled it. It’s not the prettiest, but it...
