    Worklog PiiStationU Portable

That information is perfect! I'd have to trim it down to at least 90 to get it to fit around all the caps etc on the board. With trimming it does one simply cut the end off so that it vents out the end (assuming it doesn't in the first place?). Still I'm a little ahead of myself here as I'm...

PS2 Portable As Cheap As Possible

I actually watched one of his videos and he said "get the Netplay controller, it's the easiest way to make one of these". I was up to my elbows in issues with the knockoff controllers and thus purchased a Netplay controller. The rest is convergent evolution I suppose ;)

    Worklog PiiStationU Portable

Measuring the unit I think I'll have just enough room to squeeze it in there. What are it's rough dimensions? I'll design the interior with the intention of putting it in. This really means a lot to me as it was truly the last thing I'd not managed to figure out! Now...I'd predict I'll get it...

That is a fantastic solution! I'll see about sourcing one closer to home as it'll take a month to arrive over here :( Does that unit come with the heatsync on it already? That'd be perfect!

    Worklog PiiStationU Portable

I'm loving this whole "now is my holiday" thing - I can actually spend it destroying things! So theory being theory it fits! There have been a myriad of little cuts and trims inside the case to get to this point, and relocated caps etc. one problem at a time Mark Watney style and all in the...

Worklog PS2p: 3 years Hiatus... Comeback!

Are you taking the common from one of the button lines? I've hit this with the N64. Doing this means that it'll only work if the other line is open/closed depending on the wiring. That controller in particular is one that I had so many nightmares with I ordered the mini board from RDC. Going...

    Worklog PiiStationU Portable

Pertaining to cooling: I'm open to suggestions. I've got a handful of little 5V fans left over from a custom N64 job, which are really tiny (about 25x20x15mm but I'm sure there's a better way than just a fan and a chopped up heatsync.

    Worklog PiiStationU Portable

Well this is the layout plan. The audio amp board takes up more than its fair share of internal space, but it's a left over and I'd say I can trim the main PCB back a little there. The things to note is that there are a couple of caps that'll have to be moved to more "space suitable" locations...

    Worklog PiiStationU Portable

Hey I used ideas from that also! I ended up going with the 6.5" screen and the VS-TY50-V2 Driver Board after speaking with the retailer and they assured me it'd work with the PS2 HDMI output (because I always hedge my bets as I knew it'd work with the Pi), and as it turns out it works very well...

    Worklog PiiStationU Portable

So I was taking stock of the carnage on my workbench after the last PS2 portable when I started thinking about a project I'd been tinkering with, which was a Raspberry Pi portable inside a Wii U. See I'd collected most of the stuff to do it, I had the screen, and the external phone charger I...

PS2 Portable As Cheap As Possible

The magic words I think are "that you're happy with" as this one is too large for my hands - even though I'm thrilled to have made it I'm still left wanting a better solution. I was working on a portable Raspberry Pi inside a Wii U gamepad at one stage (can anyone say "cakewalk"?) but have...

PS2 Portable As Cheap As Possible

OH THAT IS BRILLIANT! All this time that I've spent stuffing around in alcoves made out of cardboard and that really is right on the money. I'm going to copy that! And yes, Extreme G is very similar to Wipeout - and they're both punishing towards players. I will add that batteries are a big...

PS2 Portable As Cheap As Possible

Thanks very much! It actually means a lot after all the troubles I've had with this thing. I've not actually given it a full durability test, but all up it draws about 2.3A so should last over an hour and a half with the present batteries, although you can get larger. The only game I had on my...

PS2 Portable As Cheap As Possible

So I've asked for a little help pertaining to the PS2 portable that I've just finished, and it was suggested that I post here :) Technically this isn't my first PS2 portable, but a re-case of one that went horribly wrong along the way, complete with hardware failures, faulty components, months...

    PS2 Portable Assorted Issues

This thread or a project complete thread? I've got about enough to make a work-log if need be, although I'll omit all the problems and delays etc.

    PS2 Portable Assorted Issues

Just finished the unit. Does anyone want photos of anything? I've taken a heap but it's nothing that hasn't been done before :) Thanks so much for all the help everyone has provided!!!
