    Solved Parts for Wiivision

You can reach out to Gman for him to commission you a print if you want to build a WiiVision (the case is not open sourced). Apart from that, you’ll need a madcatz controller, 4 lithium cells, headphone jack, DC port and various types of wire just to name a few. I’d take a look at the other...

    StonedEdge’s Genuine G-Boy (No Clones)

Unfortunately the stream tomorrow will be canceled. I was planning on building the SPii live, but parts didn’t arrive on time as I expected and so it will have to be postponed until further notice. I finished the Gboy! All closed up now. A really nice portable and easy to put together given all...

    StonedEdge’s Genuine G-Boy (No Clones)

Pretty much finished wiring up the Gboy! All that is left is the VGA wiring. I am not sure whether I am going to be able to stream this weekend, since I don’t have a sensor bar or TV to install portablizemii. If I don’t stream this weekend it’ll definitely be next weekend. It might be better...

    StonedEdge’s Genuine G-Boy (No Clones)

So I kind of cheated and starting early because well the temptation was too much, the Gboy is too damn seductive. It was a wild couple of days in the portablizing world. I killed my AVE after shorting some 18650s, I don’t even know really how it happened, but the cell covering was really damaged...

    Worklog The Wii SPii

Aluminum anodized faceplate, as well as acrylic machined diffusers arrived today in the mail so of course here is the obligatory show off of both! They look great. Now that I have all of the parts (except for the LMAO trim done) it is time to start building :D

    BitBuilt's 2020 Summer Building Competition

Certainly OK to start in April I would think. The rule doesn’t have any fixed dates, but you can’t re-enter a portable that you didn’t finish for a previous contest. I would say starting within 5 months before the contest would be fine, but perhaps the moderators can elaborate on that.

    StonedEdge’s Genuine G-Boy (No Clones)

Obviously this is the face you pull when you receive your Gboy! Going to be streaming an all white Gboy build from start to finish next weekend live on YouTube starting 6pm EST on Saturday the 4th of July. Stay tuned, will post a link when we go live next week! Time may change at short notice...

    Worklog The Wii SPii

Thanks to some help from the BB team (awesome!) the PCB is confirmed working for the Wii SPii. All regulators output correct voltages, charging is confirmed, digital audio, PD negotiation, data switching, power/low battery LED/charging LED and GC+ 2.0 all confirmed working. Finally time to start...

Beauty and the Beast: Practice makes perfect

So I was browsing through some old photos as we all inevitably do reminisce sometime in our lives, and I came across my first G-Wii internals. Safe to say they were a pretty ugly nuke (beast) compared to my newer G-Wii (beauty, at least in my own eyes hehe) and I thought it would be cool to have...

    Worklog The Wii SPii

Thanks Jeff! I actually didn’t know that at all, so thanks for clearing that up. I actually did have to use vias because of the arrangement of the data lines from the TS3USB IC to the USB drive. I tried to avoid it but it wasn’t really possible. Will keep that in mind for next time! :D

    For Sale: WiiVision Portable

Portable is gone into the void never to be seen again. Perhaps ask Gman for a quote on a WiiVision build.

Capacitor removal on Wii not shown in manual

Yes, I usually twist them off with a pair of pliers. You might rip the pads off if you pull up, so I usually apply a downward force and twist them and they usually just slide off. If you lift the pads you can pull video from the capacitors near the AVE or from the vias so if you screw up it’s...

    Worklog The Wii SPii

Today I spent a few hours transplanting old components onto the new board I got from JLCPCB. I was able to verify a PD handshake with the STUSB4500, program the NVM and also successfully switch the data lines to get access to the internal flash drive. The nice thing this time is that I actually...

Worklog First Wii Portable - Cube-ii

Very nice! I don't think you have to connect all of the GNDs like that on the RVL-PSU, since they all are connected via an internal GND plane. Apart from that, very nice first project! Looking forward to seeing your next project.

    5 Inch Eyoyo Component Screen

I don’t want to be rude, but this is an English only forum as we have a lot of international members here and it makes it easier to chat if we all use English. A quick google translate would’ve been fine. (As below). For next time! Hi all, I proceeded with the firmware dump correctly and can...

    Worklog The Wii SPii

Yeah, 360C. Check the datasheet for the solder paste you are using, it will show you the melting temperature. This particular one melts at around 183c, but I usually use a higher heat anyway and haven't had too many problems with killing any ICs or anything. If you have a reflow oven you can...

    Worklog The Wii SPii

Thanks, I used some chipquik TS391AX50 solder paste along with 360 degrees on my hot air station and a stencil to assemble the board.

    Miceeno's G-BOY Worklog

Yep, that is expected. Data won’t reach there unless the mux switches to read the USB drive. There should be continuity between the USB-c pins and the muxer inputs, I believe which are pins 1 and 2.
