    Worklog My first Wii micro

Yes the Nintendo Switch uses USB C for charging. Older Wii revisions have a 6 layer PCB. Newer Wii revisions have a 4 layer PCB. The 4 layer PCBs are much more efficient than the 6 layers and thus generate less heat and consume less energy. If you have further questions, please create your own...

    Advice for a School Project

Yes you are correct. Although as a beginner 4 months is not a lot of time to create a Wii portable. A Raspberry Pi would be much easier and feasible in 4 months, however, a Raspberry Pi has no chance at running GameCube and Wii games. Additionally, I'm not sure what the requirements are at your...

Question Getting video output from trimmed wii?

You can cut up a composite wire if you want, you don't need to connect the audio if you just want to see if the Wii works. Just follow the composite video trace (the yellow one) and solder to a component along that trace. When you connect the audio to your portable you connect the audio L and R...

Question Getting video output from trimmed wii?

If you check the trimming guide, it shows where you can get composite video out and component video out. It is also possible to get VGA out through software mods and some difficult wiring (there is a thread on it if you look for it). You can very easily test your Wii after trimming by hooking up...

Question Can I sell my G-Wii? Or would that be wrong?

I don't think it's inherently wrong to sell a G-Wii, @Noah has sold one iirc. It's possible that he asked Gman though, so I would advise you to do the same. Personally, I would heavily advise against it if this is your first portable. The people that have done commissions here have made many...

Solved How expensive would a case be if this is the cost per gram?

There are a lot of ways to get a 3D printed case without owning a 3D printer. Several people on the forums offer 3D printing services, as well, there are online services. You could frankencase out of the GBA shell (it's been done before), however, I would suggest you go the 3D printed route...

Solved Are these good BMS and Batteries to use for my Wii portable???

You maybe save around 10 dollars by building your own regulars and buying your own BMS board compared to buying a Wii PMS, however, the Wii PMS saves a ton of space, is easier to use, and has more features so for those reasons I highly recommend it.

Solved Are these good BMS and Batteries to use for my Wii portable???

A 2s BMS only supports 2 batteries in series. However, you can attach as many 2s pairs as you want in parallel. So yes, you could use a 2s2p configuration.

Solved Where do I solder to relocate motherboard items?

When things you need get cut off, use the trimming guide to follow the trace backwards until it reaches something that isn't severed. For example, you may be referring to how the AV port is cut off during the trim. Because it is cut off, follow the composite video trace backwards. You can see...

    Worklog THE SWII Machup

The real question is how would support multiple types of controllers? Sure you could use a Wii remote and nunchuk with just the Bluetooth adapter but other controllers such as GameCube controllers and joycons won't work natively with the Bluetooth module. Also wiimotes and nunchuks won't work...

    STM32 NES Emulator

Hoping to revive this project soon. Long story short my partner and I pulled an all nighter the day of the presentation trying to get the system up and running. I got the SD card driver running and we attempted merging my code with the PPU code. Unfortunately it didn't work, through debugging we...

Discussion Ideas, questions, etc, Post em here!

My old station had a temperature dial and while it was nice to have, I only alternate between a few temperatures which the Hakko can do at a push of the button. The only annoying thing IMO is that it's very easy to accidentally clear the preset calibration.

When I bought mine, I bought one on Amazon with good reviews. I also took it apart and checked the mains wiring to be sure it's safe. Probably not a bad idea to do.

Some desoldering braid could be useful, also helps to have 90% or higher IPA for cleaning flux residue off. I also own an FX-888d (best iron in it's class imo) and the stock tip works great for pretty much everything. If you really plan to invest in equipment for assembling your own PCBs or...

Discussion Ideas, questions, etc, Post em here!

First, you want to make sure you have a quality iron. One that has a station with temperature control, and hopefully from a reputable brand like Hakko or Weller. Second, you want some good solder. Generally thinner is better, I tend to like Kester 63 37. Third, absolutely pick up some flux. I'm...

Question question about bluetooth on laptop wii

To sync a new wiimote to the console, you enable the sync function on the Wii. On a regular console this is done by pressing the sync button on the front of the Wii. Since this is cut off when trimming, we perform the same function by creating our own sync button. The sync function is enabled...
