Dang that sucks... I've done that before too
At the very least, you can reuse some of the parts on another portable, and you also have the experience from building this one
Yep you can add ports to the wiis that didn't have them in your portable. Nintendo just left off the ports to save money and make those slightly cheaper, but the board and software is basically identical
Just from the picture I see the hole in that chip... Unfortunately you'll need a hot air station to replace that chip, which is mandatory for the pms to work
I've been looking into doing something similar but I'm gonna do all custom software so I can have more granular control. Have you tested it in car? That would be some neat pics
That's an interesting idea, I'm not sure if someone has pinned out the connector for the gameboy player, but I'm sure it can be found or figured out. That would have the power and ground you would need. You could then put some kind of switch on there to turn it on separate from the gamecube...
H and V sync are for VGA, you would connect to the VGA connector, or follow the traces back and connect to where they go. You'll also need R, G, and B if you want to get a video signal out of it too :P
A trimmed Wii doesn't have any overheating protection, it'll just break. For the most part, you can use any fan/heatsink combo that fits, though more fins on your heatsink will keep it cooler. If you need an example, check out the heatsink/fan setup on the G-Wii
The PortablizeMii pack/team has not and will not support the wii mini.
Also, we will not be writing a trimming guide for the wii mini, and I would strongly recommend against trimming attempts, as they will be more difficult than a standard wii.
You can't get both video modes out at the same time, but you can do the hot plug detect. If you use two transistors you can essentially make a level shifter, something like this should get you going
Have you tested the skyward sword rom in something like Dolphin? I know it sometimes does that with bad roms, though it could also be the bad USB drive
