Worklog Attempting to put a Wii in a Wii U Gamepad

Crazygadget is correct that the RVL-PMS line does not officially support 6 layer boards. The "don't use a 6 layer for a portable" thing is pretty universally known and accepted. We didn't see the need to specify the incompatibility as we assumed anyone building a portable was following the...

Worklog Wii U R&D Thread (WURD)

This is really awesome. If the flash can be removed and replaced with an SD card soldered to vias under the SOC, the wireless modules could be relocated, disc drive can be relocated with 4 wires, and custom regulators can be used, that really narrows things down. We could be pretty close to...

    Worklog Translucent Blue Noldendo

Shell looks beautiful. As for the lights, it all depends on what you plan to do. If your goal is reactive stuff like mine, there's a lot more stuff you need to stuff into the case that each use up a lot of power. If you just want lights without the reactive part, RGB LEDs come in 2 variants...

Question Wiring RVL-PMS 2 to LMAO V2 trim

See the attached image from the guide. Pin 3 of the audio video encoder, in yellow, is composite. Run the composite video wire to any of those points. As for 3.3v and 1.8v, there isn't really any specific ideal place to put them, on any trim for that matter. You don't have to run those or...

Question Wiring RVL-PMS 2 to LMAO V2 trim

The locations are mostly the same. The ones that are different are marked in ShockSlayer's documentation here: https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/lmaov2-and-nand-relocation-guide.1961/ As for composite video, it's outlined in the wii trim guide. Composite is not great, especially on...

Question Rewiring the wii power buttons is there a way?

One thing I'd like to add. Counterintuitively, trimming off less of the board can introduce more problems. For example, the stock voltage regulator circuit uses a voltage comparator that shuts off all the regulators if any anomaly is detected. There are a few pitfalls we avoided during planning...

Score the top of the board. Board bend the RAM over onto the back of the board, leaving the back 2 layers connected. Use very short magnet wire to jumper the top RAM traces, and short thick wire to reconnect severed internal plane. It's something I've been thinking of for years but lack the...

    Worklog The WiiCube

I think wiring up a wii2hdmi and then wiring up HDMI internally is going to be a lot of work. I would advise using either a display that accepts either VGA or YPbPr. It will save you a lot of space and headache. YPbPr displays are harder to find, but easier to wire up.

Question Using disk reader in a portable

It is possible, but there is essentially nothing to gain from doing so. It's a lot more work, and the end result is a portable that's much larger, has horrible battery life, and is far less convenient.

    Question GameCube Platinum Color

I think this one's going to be a little tricky. I don't think it's just a specific color, but the paint they use on the controller (platinum cubes and controllers are grey but painted) has a metallic sheen to it. I would guess some sort of hammered metallic silver paint is going to be what you...

Question Increasing vram on pi for emulation

I'm not too deep into the world of Pis, but from my understanding, emulation is usually more CPU intensive than GPU intensive. A primary VRAM guzzler in gaming is to store bigger, higher resolution textures, which isn't particularly relevant for emulation. I believe the Pi uses unified memory...

    Discussion Ok hear me out

I would suggest trying the current tools (RVLoader) before attempting to revolutionize the way things are done. RVLoader allows you to access everything without ever needing a Wii remote. GC2Wiimote, included in Hiidra/RVLoader, allows you to have your gamecube controller function as a Wii...

    4Layer Product Line Update

Good news! The PMS Lites have arrived. @Gman has been hard at work testing and packaging the preorder units. He expects to ship all preorders tomorrow (1/13). This batch took a little longer than we hoped due to outside circumstances, but we are grateful that everyone has stuck it out and been...

Discussion I just wanna talk about my failure of a wii

For anyone finding this thread in the future, nothing in the initial post should be taken as accurate information. Disc drive board has nothing to do with "no emulation". SNES portables have existed for well over a decade before BitBuilt was a thing. Disc drive daughterboard board can return...
