Worklog Ashida Round 1 - Zen in the Art of Worklogs.

Hey y'all, I did a little late evening troubleshooting sesh to hone in on the DD and MX lines. First, I pulled all the wires off this area; DD wires, MX Wires and u10 wire from pms. Then scrubbed the whole board with ipa and a toothbrush. Using gel flux and some fresh solder, i reprepped the...

Worklog Purple G-Wii Rev 2 Build

Good problem solving dude. Moving forward with what you can and utilizing the community for help. Im not sure about everyone else but I usually get my wii trimmed and booting before doing controls and satellite boards. But I suppose any order could work... Its nice to have controls early on too...

Very interesting @Aurelio, Thanks for chiming in with that. Thanks for the info on that insight @jefflongo ... So here is where I am at after working in the sunshine for a little while on the build: Last night I tried to swap over to FPC breakout for the digital video lines, it seemed to work...

OK good news! I totally forgot about the MODE pin for the composite test. Once I removed the mode pin I am getting a boot from the system and the screen fired up too... so strange. But its relieving that the wii is booting... going to keep testing. But I breathe a sigh of relief right now...

Worklog Ashida Round 1 - Zen in the Art of Worklogs.

Alright y'all, its another one of those days where it gets so close you can taste it. Then something else goes wrong that you have never encountered before. MX relocation was mostly a meditation on layout. Where to put the chip and run the wires. I decided to the left of the mobo was the spot...

Worklog Ashida Round 1 - Zen in the Art of Worklogs.

Ahh, Good ol' user error... the "headphone switching" issue was not what was going on. I had overlooked to solder J3 on the uamp board. So uamp was just turning itself all the way down because it was listening for digital tact buttons but was connected to the analog pot. Seems to be in good...

Keep truckin Cy. The build is looking really good! I had to remove those trigger mount brackets too... Fitment issues. Great job, I know you will get it sorted out and have a kick ass portable for MGC. Cheers mate!

Hey y'all... been putting together an Ashida build and its been really fun. A few speed bumps and road blocks but I'm loving it. It's not going as smoothly as I had hoped... so its about time I update a work log to see if I can iron this all out. :) I ordered the PCBs on day one and soldered...

    Question Help with first N64

I’m not so sure about u3. If they have the same exact label on the chip they might be the same. I would ask G-man, he knows the most about Pif relocation

Just uploaded gerbers to JLCPCB! Woot! Thanks to @Redherring32, @YveltalGriffin and @Gman, for looking over my schematics and board layouts. Super appreciate it fellas... Spent a bunch of time with Griff working on the trace entry angles at the pads -- as well as organizing the decoupling caps...

Almost done with the first revision of my controller board. Learning kicad is a fun process... Way cleaner than the first version I did earlier in the day: I am still figuring out how I am supposed to connect the E14 detect pin works in the circuit... so I don't think it will work quite yet...

    Question Help with first N64

Forgive me if this question sounds obvious, do you try to turn on the Nintendo 64 with a cartridge connected? Jumper pack or expansion pack? The Nintendo will not boot up without those… No sense in testing anything without those…

Worklog SparkleBear's First Portable Nintendo 64 Build Project Worklog.

At this point two different designs around the same chip just didn't work for me no matter how many things I tried. A few weeks earlier, Gman generously shared the code he wrote for a PIC16F MCU. I now have decided to design my own PCB that suits my needs and I can troubleshoot from the ground...

It's been a few weeks since I posted in the work log... I've put alot of hours into the project with out a ton to show for it... Worked on prototyping a controller on a proto board so I could start to understand how these chips interact. Studied up on the guide hub post on controller chip...
