Worklog Reviive Worklog and Questions - Portable Wii Brought Back From The Dead!

Totally meant to do this update last night but I wired up the batteries and still no luck. I charged them for a couple hours, still nothing. I’ll check later for voltage regarding the barreljack port, but another issue I hadn’t anticipated was that my current iron is really old and isn’t up to...

Thanks. Will definitely check the wires and PMS for shorts.

Gotcha. Thanks so much for the info! I’ll post another update once I’ve completed the process (and hopefully have a functional Wii portable!!).

Worklog Reviive Worklog and Questions - Portable Wii Brought Back From The Dead!

Big Update: The two Samsung 18650s just came in the mail and their voltages are both a hearty 3.52V Later today after I finish up work, I’ll solder them up in the portable and make another post here about the result. I’m super excited! Also, is it alright to solder directly to the postitive...

    Call for Backgrounds!

Awesome! Can't wait to implement this into my portable once it's up and running.

    Discussion Retro Wii

The drive’s size is irrelevant. Just the fact that its a hard drive and most likely a really low RPM HDD makes it a pain in the ass and more trouble than its worth.

    Discussion Retro Wii

Even if you could by some miracle get a floppy disk hooked up to a Wii; literally what will that accomplish? Pair that with your hard drive and you’re in a world of slow ass loading times and a waste of effort. And thats if you even get that far.

Lmao do you know how data works? So you can’t store any modern files on it unless its like a .txt file with a couple words in it. Floppy disks are useless for holding modern files like you plan to do. Lmk when you magically add more data to your floppy disk with a syringe.

You do realize that a floppy disk can't hold shit, right? Most can barely hold 2MB.

Worklog The Oopsii, a louii clone build

Looking great! Even though it this was a mistake (as the name implies), it doesn't look like it for sure! Very clean design and good color choices. Love all of Ginger's designs, and you 100% did it justice.

I dunno if its gotten through your head or not, but as Stitches said, this is literally impossible to accomplish. You can try all you want but physics won't allow the Wii to use two drives. It's as simple as that.

Worklog Reviive Worklog and Questions - Portable Wii Brought Back From The Dead!

Update: I desoldered the batteries and will take them to a special dump for electronic batteries to be disposed of safely. Just placed the order for the two Samsung 18650s which will hopefully get this thing up and running. Stay tuned for more updates! Also, these cells had no obvious branding...

Worklog Reviive Worklog and Questions - Portable Wii Brought Back From The Dead!

I have now obtained a multimeter and have measured voltage of the batteries. Both of them are at 0.68V. Following Shank’s instructions, next I will order an external 18650 charger to get this bad boys up to 3V which will hopefully solve the issue. If not, I’ll replace the PMS.

Worklog Reviive Worklog and Questions - Portable Wii Brought Back From The Dead!

Hilariously enough this portable also came with an official Nintendo Gamecube carrying case that is way too big for this system. It arrived with it covered in like 4 layers of bubble wrap to fill the void. When I do inevitably travel with this portable once I fix it, I’ll most likely buy a case...

Worklog Reviive Worklog and Questions - Portable Wii Brought Back From The Dead!

Thanks so much! I really appeticate the feedback and I continue to look forward to your G-Wii updates! Thanks for letting me know. Yeah, all the parts in there now, even in the state that it’s in, are worth more separately than what I paid for this.

Worklog Reviive Worklog and Questions - Portable Wii Brought Back From The Dead!

Thanks so much. My plan is to first purchase a multimeter, check voltage, if the batteries are sketchy, I'll most likely replace them. If that doesn't solve the issue I'll buy a RVL PMS 2 from 4layertech and resolder all the wires from the old one to the new one. Also, I noticed this portable...

Worklog Reviive Worklog and Questions - Portable Wii Brought Back From The Dead!

Sorry to disappoint, but I bought this for $130 and it was labeled as broken. I sort of doubt the seller I bought this from was the guy who built it, because the description said that the person didn’t know what was wrong and they had 99% positive selling feedback, along with joining eBay in...
