    Worklog PIS2, a long overdue ps2 portable

Last week has been quite a productive one. I've done a diagram of the wiring between the PS2 and Pi2/3 so that I don't have to figure it again when I'm ready to wire them up and though to put it here if anyone wants to do the same thing. The Pi2 run pretty cool (and probably Pi3 too) without...

    2SP - Nold's First PS2p & Clamshell Case

This is my favourite project atm, probably bias because I'm a PS2 fanboy though :P.

Looking good, nice trim! As @Nold mentioned only a handful of screens support 15khz VGA signal so that would explain why you are not seeing an image. From memory there is a 5” and 5.6” in 4:3 ratio from good display and I think Nold mentioned that the screen he is using for his build might work...

    Worklog PIS2, a long overdue ps2 portable

@CLAUDIO thanks @cheese Hey man, thanks for the tips. I will keep that in mind during the assembly phase. This was just a spare PS2 to test the correct wiring as I didn't want to mess up my cut up board. I've got some SMB caps on the way too that was ordered after making sure that I've got it...

    Worklog PIS2, a long overdue ps2 portable

So for the last 4/5 days I’ve been trying to figure this wiring out for my Raspberry Pi2. I tried finding ethernet port 10/100 schematics on obscure manufacture website, measuring voltage on the lines and tested around 20 something way to wire that thing up in vain… until just an hour ago when...

    Worklog PIS2, a long overdue ps2 portable

So for the last couple of days I’ve been looking at wiring the the Raspberry Pi 2 data lines to the PS2 without much success so far. I’ve tried wiring the lines directly which didn’t work. I then search on the forum and found Gman PS2 razer worklog which had a diagram that Cheese found plus...

@cfc_12 Thanks man, good to be back. @fibbef Thanks mate but It's actually a lot more messy usually. Did a bit of cleaning and checked with my Feng shui consultant before taking those pics ;)

    Worklog PIS2, a long overdue ps2 portable

And I’m back…again, I guess this worklog title became even more relevant. After only 1 1/2 years of hibernation I couldn’t stand looking at this empty case anymore so I ended up jumping back on this project from last week. I’ve also got a bit more regular times during the weekends now so I...

    Question Help with my ps2

Unless you go with gman's cut, which is probably too advance for someone new to electronics, the basic cut as nothing to do with battery life. It's just to reduce the board footprint so that it takes less space in the case. I'm guessing this could be done with this board if you sacrifice player...

Worklog PS2p: 3 years Hiatus... Comeback!

Yes, as Stitches mention those are different screen/board but they have been proven to be working with PS2 signal. They can be a bit pricey, especially when you add up shipping, but they are hands down the best image quality you can get out the PS2, even the HDMI 5.6” LCD that I was playing with...

Worklog PS2p: 3 years Hiatus... Comeback!

I think, first of all, double check your wiring. You should be using 6 points from the PS2 A/V output. Pin 5 or 6, 8,9,10,11,12 based on this table R, G, B (pin 9,11,12) wired directly from the PS2 to the VGA input of your LCD. Then for the LMH1251 board, you need to have 3 wires on the input...

    Question Help with my ps2

Based on your picture I’m assuming that you board is a scph 9000x series. Those are not as trim-able as the scph 7900x boards that we usually use here and not really well documented for this reason. I would advise to get a scph 7900x as they can easy be squared off with a basic trim, I’ve made...

    Worklog EknonCo's PS2 Portable! (I'm a noob, pls help)

Welcome! Just wanted to wish you good luck, making a portable is a pretty rewarding project and I’m sure you will learn plenty along the way. On a side note, if you are just after composite, you could use a 3.5mm A/V 3 rca cable to get you video out. You would also need to get a 3.5mm 4...

    Worklog PIS2, a long overdue ps2 portable

Thanks guys, It took a bit longer because I had to redo that prototype board. The first one only had 2 screws, one on each sides, so when I was pressing the main button my finger would go through the case . I'm glad I took the time and added 2 more screws in the middle. Now it's...

    Worklog PIS2, a long overdue ps2 portable

So I had this idea for a while which was to use the button of a PS3 controller as the main switch for the portable. The cool thing with that button is that it is semi-transparent so you should be a able to see a light through it. For this I got a tack switch which comes with a LED, cut a small...

    Portablizing BOM

Nice find, @Stitches . The default size is 106mm X 50mm X 10m. I've trimmed mine to 80mm X 50mm X 8mm. The annoying part is trimmed that 2mm from the bottom part which is mostlikely supposed to go on top of a CPU otherwise it's a great heatsink fan combo, pretty quiet and compact.

Sounds way too easy, I need at least 10 steps and having a few issue with the images;) Joke aside I might consider this although I like to have my images independent of any sites.

Case Update So after all that sand there was… more sanding. Did a coat of primer which revealed quite a few defects and by digging a bit some of those defect where actual air bubble from the ABS cement. Applied a nice layer of filler to fill those suckers. First coat of paint was not bad...
