Question What DS is a good size for a Wii Portable

Well for starters, I'd like to say please don't make a clamshell. Even larger ones are a huge pain, and a ds sized one is something even veterans would struggle with. That said, if you're adamant about making a clamshell in a ds, afaik the ds phat is the only one thick enough to hold a wii...

    Worklog Unnamed Pi 3 Portable

If you want to cut out those buttons, you'll have to find a place you can solder wire to for them first. Use your multimeter and see where the traces from the buttons go. Make sure that they become connected only when you press that button. Then I recommend using a dremel to cut the board, and...

    Worklog Custom Molded Buttons

Update time! As some of you know, I recently got a laser engraver and have been engraving everything in my house for the last couple of days, but the first thing to get etched on was this 3ds. I put the Gamecube logo onto the lid of it so it's even more gamecube-ey. Now all it needs is a...

    Worklog Custom Molded Buttons

Sorry for the late update :D I was sent the wrong silicone and had to wait for more. I'm having some trouble getting a good cast of the modified buttons, so I'm going to call this one "good enough" haha. I am using the molded buttons without the indented letters, and I'm still pretty happy with...

    Discussion Thin Shoulder Button Solutions

In my tiny gc controller, I actually embedded one of the tacts inside of the shoulder buttons. Would that help?

Worklog The Lombardii - First (and a half) portable

Actually if I were to guess, I'd say it has a low infill and the walls were too thin. To me, those bubbles look like a beehive style infill that is just showing. Making the walls thicker in the slicer settings might help :)

I'm using Easy Cast resin. I have no idea how it holds up against other brands since it's the first resin I bought

    Worklog Custom Molded Buttons

Acrylic stays nice and glossy. I made some x and y buttons for GameCube that look exactly like the originals in terms of texture and color :P

    Worklog Custom Molded Buttons

Hey guys! It's finally time to start a worklog for this project as I finally know it's 100% doable. As some of you may know, I recently began playing with silicon molds. So far, I have made molds for a few different types of buttons, but the ones I'm most excited about are my 3ds buttons. I have...

    What is your electronic background?

I started by painting gamecubes lol. Then I put in some leds and modchips, and now I'm here :P

Question Does anyone have experience making custom sensor bars? (for very close range)

Yep you can. My wii portable has the leds maybe 4 inches apart and the wii remote works at that distance easily. You can get some new leds for dirt cheap. Just be aware that if you're hooking up leds to a new power source, you'll need a resistor :)

Worklog My quest to fix this N64 Portable

The wires tore off that circuit board? Just solder them back the way they are in that picture. If the other end came off then it's a bit more complicated.

Lesson #1 of modding, take pictures of EVERYTHING. My camera is 90% pictures of pcbs and consoles so I can put things back if I knock something off.

    Question Cooling Fan Problem

I can't think of another reason why the wii wouldn't boot with a fan hooked up other than current draw, a faulty fan, or a buggy wii. If it's not current draw, a different fan would help rule out it being a bad fan or a bad wii. If it works, you know the seller has a couple bad fans he's...

    Question Cooling Fan Problem

That's not quite what happened to me lol. My fan was causing noisy interference with the headphone jack (and possibly screen), but my wii didn't refuse to boot. I recommend hooking the fan up to power by itself and reporting back the voltage and amperage it draws by itself. Were both fans you...

Worklog My quest to fix this N64 Portable

It'll be okay :) soldering something like that isn't difficult. The biggest thing is to make sure you don't touch the plastic case with the iron while working.
