    World's Smallest Gamecube Controller

I'm not really sure I follow, but the wii u adapter just plugs in and works inside nintendont, no rewiring required :)

    Help. Voltage Lines Shorted

I just checked with an untrimmed 6 layer, and I get 7 ohms from the 1v line, 21 ohms in the 1.15v line, and 29 ohms on the left 1.8v line, so you should be good :)

    Help. Voltage Lines Shorted

First I would check to see that they are actually shorted. 24 ohms might be normal, but 7 is iffy. I've never worked with a 6 layer board though, someone else would have to check theirs to see what the values should be. I assume it would be different than a stock board.

    Help. Voltage Lines Shorted

Did you put tape over the cpu and gpu before you trimmed? If you don't, metal dust can get under there and short stuff under the chips

    Worklog World's Smallest Gamecube

It's good to know that they're the same. When I opened the 6 layer up, the AVE chip had totally different writing on it from the 4 layer one, plus the different board layout so I didn't want to risk it :)

    Worklog World's Smallest Gamecube

I honestly don't know. It had a different AVE chip, so I didn't want to risk it :)

    Worklog World's Smallest Gamecube

OMEGAWD, relocating the AVE was a pain. It was definitely a lot more work than relocating the NAND, but five hours later I FINALLY have it correctly relocated. I took a page from Nold's book and chopped up a second board to house the AVE, which definitely turned out to be a good idea because...

    Worklog World's Smallest Gamecube

So as most of you know, I spent most of yesterday learning Eagle, working on a regulator board for the wii, and asking everyone tons of questions. There's no way I could've gotten as far as I did without the help of this awesome community, and in particular there are a few members I'd like to...

    Worklog World's Smallest Gamecube

Update time! I'll be posting pics and notes of every piece of progress on my build for myself and others to use in the future. So expect a picture heavy worklog with frequent updates from here on out! So far I have portablizemii installed and fully relocated the NAND. The console still boots...

NetBoy - A network-focused portable for games and work

I like squishies on bigger buttons like gc or Xbox, but I prefer clickies on tiny buttons. It's all personal preference though

Guide Commonly Used Diagrams and Pinouts

I'm not really sure where to put this, but I made a cheat sheet of helpful info so that I could stop looking these up every few weeks. I hope others find it useful as well :)

Guide Resin Casting / Molding Buttons

Definitely try to get them flat on the first go. You could sand them down, but it's WAY easier to just look at the reflection of the light on the surface to see if it's even. What buttons are you molding out of curiosity?

Guide Resin Casting / Molding Buttons

If it's been 24 hours, they shouldn't feel sticky. My guess is that you didn't mix them perfectly evenly :) it takes quite a bit of experimenting until you get it just right so keep trying. I recommend doing some clear buttons until you get the perfect ones, and then try with a little color...

Guide Resin Casting / Molding Buttons

What brand resin are you using? If it's art n glow, give it maybe three days until it's 100% hard. Too much paint could make it soft or mixing slightly wrong. You could probably scratch it with your nail if you really tried, but it shouldn't be easy to do

Question Questioning the possibility of turning a Gamecube controller into a Joy Con, need help from veterans

Ayyy haha I'm glad you're doing this :D I was seriously considering doing it myself but I'd love to have someone else do it (I need to stop doing gcc related projects). Do you mind if I ask why you don't want the rails? Will you be putting both halves into one complete wavebird rather than two...

    WTB GameCube Disc Drive

Ah okay :) well if you're troubleshooting in the future, a bad laser can cause it to not spin too. If it doesn't see the disk, it doesn't try to play it.

    WTB GameCube Disc Drive

If you have one with a burnt out laser, they sell replacement lasers for like $7.50 online :D just in case.

Question OMGWTF trim, how is it even possible

It's really not necessary. Just read the guide carefully and your build will be fine :) Nintendo built the wii to withstand small children and nuclear apocalypses. If you're building a portable, it's a pretty safe bet that you're not going to let your two year old poke their pb&j in through the...

Question OMGWTF trim, how is it even possible

Well, if you look at what is removed, you can see that a lot of it is stuff that we either don't use or choose to sacrifice for convenience or size constraints. For example, there are the components and plugs for the disc drive which we don't use at all. Wifi has been patched out, so that's...
