Question My First Portable - Lots of Questions

I haven't done anything with the 6 layer boards so I can't answer that. I did wire a battery to mine but it's not necessary except for games that need the clock to stay on full time like Animal Crossing. My understanding is you can hook up the MX chip without the battery and it will do...

Question OG Xbox wireless controller mod

You could definitely do it. I have some experience rehousing and heavily modifying various controllers, and this project is definitely doable. You'd want to pick a wireless controller that is as similar to the s controller as you can. It won't be a perfect drop in, but it'll be easier to work...

    Question 3DS Slider + Wavebird

Yeah that r button might cause issues lol. It will be pulling the unused pin down to ground every time it's pressed, and there's no way of knowing what that pin is for lol. It might be okay, but if you get weird issues when you press R that's what it is :P Same goes for the unused pins. If one...

    Question 3DS Slider + Wavebird

Could you please post a clearer pic of the mx chip on the wavebird? It's kind of blurry and I'd like to see if there are other shorts :)

    Question 3DS Slider + Wavebird

Idk without looking it up what pins are shorted, but neither of them is a dpad button. As a side note, just because the pin is unused on the board doesn't mean it doesn't have a function :) shorting an "unused" pin is still bad, I just don't know what it would affect since it's internal

    Question 3DS Slider + Wavebird

Yeah secondly definitely remove that short. The battery thing shouldn't make a difference, but if you're having a problem then it's best to rule out everything you can. What about the shorted pins I circled?

    Question 3DS Slider + Wavebird

Okay so I have a couple things I see. For one, you have your slider connected to battery voltage, not 3.3v on the board. Are you running the wavebird off batteries? If so, did you test them before hooking everything up? If you are running it off batteries, your power switch needs to be on :P...

    Question Possibilities

It's been done before, so it's possible, but definitely not a good first or maybe even second wii portable. You could make a psp lookalike that is larger and has more room, but that would be difficult without a printer. If you're frankencasing, I recommend looking around at different options...

Can I buy a Portable GameCube

Portables usually go in the range of $500 and up :) Currently I don't know of anyone selling their portable, but you could always build your own. We have all the guides you need to get started in the Guide Hub.

    Gamecube Themed Joycons

Update on the joystick caps. I made a video a while back on how to put your own caps on your joy cons, but it only worked with certain c-stick caps. After buying a variety of gcc caps from both Chinese and US sellers, I believe that the c sticks I like are no longer common or being used. So in...

Wavebird Inside A Wired Gamecube Controller

I had a day off school the other day and decided to spend it on the first of many wavebird related projects. This is a lightly trimmed wavebird that I fit inside of a standard GCC shell. The battery is a PowerA 2.4v rechargeable battery pack for the Xbox One controller, and fits perfectly in...

    Worklog World's Smallest Gamecube

Everybody has their own preference :) hot glue is a lot easier to remove, but it also has some give, meaning the wires can move a little bit. Epoxy is never gonna come off without ripping the wires out, but it prevents the wires from moving entirely. I personally prefer epoxy because I'm...
