the g-boy kit also uses many custom pcbs, so the internals would be a bit cleaner and more manageable. i'd suggest trying out the g boy first. @GingerOfOz said in his original post on this thread that it is a somewhat challenging build, and clean internals are a must. if you don't want to build...
ah got it. i think your best bet is to buy a pi 4 and a case. the pi 4 is pretty powerful. it can emulate up to n64 and even gamecube and wii(with a custom OS and build of dolphin). pis are great as streaming boxes and you can use them with your tv. kodi linux is an OS meant for use in an...
are you thinking of building a portable console of some sort? or just a streaming box? if it’s the latter, i suggest looking somewhere else, bitbuilt mostly focuses on the hardware side of things, while your questions seem mostly software based.
don’t worry, it’ll come to you quick. thankfully there’s tons of documentation and resources on the wii, and the g wii is one of the best designs for a beginner.
that’s true but these are being sold to everyone, even people who have no clue how electronics work. the average person isn’t going to open the portable up and check the internals, let alone know how to clean them up. that being said the terrible organization is a serious hazard.
this is worse...
i mean... i guess you’re out of luck. i haven’t seen anyone use an ips screen, but i may be wrong. browsing through work logs may just help you find what you’re looking for.
if you want a larger portable, the g wii is a great start. the files are open source and i’m pretty sure all the pcbs it uses can be found in the bb store.
AFAIK IPS displays typically aren’t used in wii portables. VGA is usually the way to go as it outputs crisp 480p video. the 5” 4:3 screen...
why didn’t i buy a gboy kit when they came out in april(or at all for that matter)
cuz i’m too broke that’s why
all jokes aside it’s great that the modding scene is getting more attention, hopefully the community will grow.
bbloader has the same requirements as PM: u10 and custom regs, but with bbloader you don’t need bluetooth for wii games. AFAIK as long as you have home brew you can install bbloader. i think it’s all explained here: https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/bbloader-v1-1-beta.3564/
thank you so much for the suggestion! it seems much easier and should produce the same, if not better results at cheaper price. i’m not too concerned about the gpio, because i’m using an arduino pro micro for controls. my only worry is that the 5v and ground pins will be overpopulated, because...
thanks for your quick reply! i looked up a picture of the pi 3a+ which i believe is what you used. the hdmi is much smaller than the dsi, but i’ll still try to follow the tips you gave me. i have a weller wlc100 iron, will that be good enough? i don’t have a pencil tip or something thin like...
i’ve done some research and it turns out that’s you can add some leaded solder onto the components so that they come off easier. the pcbs are made with lead free solder which is harder to melt. they can be removed easily after adding leaded solder.
also, @Dmcke5, in your pi portable, you...
