    Worklog Gman's MGC64 thing

Best picture, best audio, cool form factor. This is absolutely smashing it. I think a version without the cartridge slot and with a hard wired everdrive would be really cool.

    Worklog The Last64

I really wanted to get an advanced board for my portable, but missed out on a run of populated boards by a few days, nothing else came up in the meantime. Looking at your work I doubt I'd have pulled off that soldering. Hats off to you.

    Worklog Gman's MGC64 thing

The fact that you'll probably get this finished before I get done with mine is both motivation to get going and demoralising at the same time. Please tell me you don't have kids Gman.

    Worklog Gman's MGC64 thing

Holy moly, looks awesome. Is this what you you were working on during the stream the other day? What were you doing to the underside of the board, looks like you attached a component but I couldn't identify it.

    Worklog Booshman's N64 portable

Thanks! It was handy I had a set of controller ports left from the first N64 that I killed. I had to remove a lot of plastic to get everything to fit. I take it having the data line from controller 2 to both the headphone jack at the top and the HDMI port leading to the dock is fine as long as...

    Worklog Booshman's N64 portable

I'm going to relocate the headphone jack to the bottom of the portable so I can connect the audio through the dock without external wires. I'm going to have decide what to do with the existing hole headphone jack in the top. I might fill it in, but I'm deliberating on making it a secont...

    Worklog Booshman's N64 portable

I got the piece printed and its attached to the dock now. I have filled and, sanded and primed a couple of times, still got a few spots to sort out but it's getting there. Added a little surround for the AV port and a hole for the power to plug in. I'm unsure what to do with the dock...

    Worklog Booshman's N64 portable

So my wife is getting me a resin 3D printer for Xmas. I downloaded fusion360 and made my first 3D model to go on the top of the dock.

    Worklog Booshman's N64 portable

So I finally have a small update. Been working on the dock. It has some ways to go, but the portable will fit now and it's coning together. I'm going to cut a piece of EVA foam to fit in the rectangle gap to support the underside of the portable.

Question How to remove solder from a chip with flooded pins.

I did try that. I ended up with the braid sticking to the pins, which I eventually got off. Also, when I heat one side the solder clings to the underside of the pins, then I turn it over and gravity pulls it the other way, while I'm using the braid on the top side.

Question How to remove solder from a chip with flooded pins.

I have a CPU from a Super Famicom, it's removed from the board with the pins completely flooded with solder down one edge. Are there any hints people could share to how to go about getting it all off. anything I've found online is related to removing bridges between pins, with the chips still...

Question Trying to fix a 1 chip Super Famicom

Hopefully someone can help me out here. I have a Super Famicom which won't display an image. Just a black screen with some interference on occasion. I can get sound. I checked the caps on the top and they all look good. On the bottom some of the caps are shorting to ground on both sides. Also...

    Worklog Booshman's N64 portable

As I suspected, thanks for confirming. These RAD2x do seem like they would be a cool addition to a portable, but with my design I think I'll have to keep my plan for regular composite. Since I want to have the option to play either on the portable or on a larger TV when docked, I can't see how I...

    Worklog Booshman's N64 portable

Cool, I take it there would be no way to use a driver board that just takes VGA, like the one I have currently.

    Worklog Booshman's N64 portable

Hey folks, no progress on this unfortunately. My daughter takes up so much of m time, as well as work and I moved too. I'd love to have this finished, but I would have little time to play on it anyway as of late. Anyway, that said, I'm always trying to keep up to date with new tech that could be...

    Question Controller hookup on motherboard

Apologies for the lateness of the reply, I just saw this. That's about where I'm going to trim to, I believe it will be fine.

Question Snes and nes classic portable

My first thought was that given the size of the PCB's, you could have them both in one unit.

Did you sand it properly after trimming the bottom? Got a picture of how much you took off?
