What Game are you Currently Playing? (Whats up!)

Oh come on! Am I the ONLY one in the world who liked Other M? I'm so glad they made a physical release of Yooka-Laylee. Probably add that to my birthday list.

    Discussion N64 Noob Thread

Now, just because I did something doesn't mean it's a good idea. But for the record, neither me nor my batteries are dead yet.

Discussion Ideas, questions, etc, Post em here!

The first portable I finished was a SNESp. I found it to be fairly straightforward. But since I ended up working with a couple of different revisions (both large NTSC models), I noticed a couple of differences. First, some revisions have the audio chips on the motherboard. Some have them on a...

What Game are you Currently Playing? (Whats up!)

I look at modding this way: I got into it thanks to my love of gaming. My interests could do a complete shift toward modding such that I seldom game any more, but I still have too much fun gaming. Like so many others, my free time is very limited thanks to two small children. And at the end of...

    How many?

Not really. It was fairly straightforward. Did have some problems with the case which I had to overhaul during the build. Other thing was I didn't extend the drive's ribbon cable, so it was a pain reconnecting to the board when closing the system up. While I don't recommend making a portable...

    How many?

-3 or 4 LCD screens due to reversed voltage (at ~$20 I guess they can't afford to put in some protection). -2 SNES boards. First one I can't remember why. But second one was because it didn't like the audio daughterboard being removed and I never could get it fixed. -2 PSone boards. First one...

    Worklog Various Cosmetic Console Mods

To further Ginger's point, consider what you might want to pay for a painted console. Sure, people get excited over really cool cosmetic mods, but when they say things like, "Shut up and take my money!" what's really going through their heads is, "I'd pay the value of the console plus maybe an...

DS Phat buttons are ok. They even come in whatever color you want - as long as that color is gray.

    Question Button Holes & Bondo

A bit late, but my 2 cents: whenever I get bondo inside a button hole, I roll up a small piece of sandpaper with the grit facing out and spin it around in the opening until the bondo is gone.

Oh my... I can't... I had not even considered that. But it should be very doable. I guess my biggest concern would be heat dissipation. I do have a secret something in mind for another cartridge but a Wii cart might have to wait until post-contest since I don't have any PTH08080 regs on hand and...

    Worklog Unnamed GBA DS-Lite Project

Should be doable on a Lite. I did exactly that on a phat that had some filthy shoulder buttons that were no longer registering. The phat's shoulders are just side-mounted tacts and were easily replaced with clicky tacts. Face buttons may not be as easy, but I'm sure it can be done.

@Hylke nice screen mod! I scrolled past the pic twice before realizing it was lit.

    Wii SP 2.0

That looks incredibly beautiful. If you have some thin plastic sheeting, I would recommend making an internal bezel to place between your case and screen to hide the screen's trim. I think a narrow black trim would look nice and not too out of place since the screen itself has the narrowest of a...

I would like to be able to do two if possible. Not many of the PNPs are going to have 2-player support but I know at least the Atari Flashback does. What are the ramifications of doing 2, aside from needing additional I/O pins?

Awesome! Thanks again for looking into that for me. I'll probably pick up an Arduino Mega since it appears to have plenty of I/O. Funny thing with Arduino is apparently there are a ton of bad clones and the Mega's listing on Amazon got a bunch of 1-star reviews because of that. So I'm looking...
