Discussion Custom Game Cases for Retro Games

Hey all, back from the semi-grave... i guess? Since I haven't posted since building my UltraSlim PS2. :P But I figured i'd post this here, forgive me if it's in the wrong section, I didn't know where I should have posted it. Feel free to bap me on the head if so! I just thought it might be...

Question Ultra Slim Electron Analog Audio Issues

I wasn't sure if to post this as it's own topic, or in the Ultra Slim thread, but i've been have recently having issues where after a few minutes, the audio would go from normal, to UBER LOUD. It would be overwhelmingly staticy and loud. I've tried different HDMI cables, i've replaced all of the...

    PS2 Ultra Slim

Now if I can figure out how to change your design's power cutout to fit USB-C, similar to (https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/ps2-ultra-slim.5077/post-68021) instead of the barrel jack, it'd be perfect for mine. lol.

Question Power Issues on Two Boards

Did you figure out which regulators weren't working? For future reference, and if any of us find any more broken boards, in case it's a common issue?

Question Power Issues on Two Boards

Mhm, also might be a common issue with broken boards on eBay as well, which if fixable, makes it cheaper, and easier for us to grab and fix to use than buying working consoles.

Question Power Issues on Two Boards

Definitely curious to see if it ends up being the same regulator on both boards. That would be crazy if both boards I had were having identical problems.

    PS2 Ultra Slim

I actually ran into this too as well. It still works, so I didn't really think much of it. But it would be nice if it were flush with the shell, but as long as it is functional, it really doesn't bother me.

    PS2 Ultra Slim

I've found that they do require a specific type of charger. Either a fast charger or super fast charger, as some cheap chargers, or ones that just provide basic charge don't seem to work. I have these specific chargers, and can confirm that they work very well: - UGREEN 65W USB C Charger Block...

Question Power Issues on Two Boards

Update on this original topic: Since the two boards have been sitting around, and I've been unable to fix them myself due to inexperience, I will be boxing them both up, and shipping both boards out to @Customledmods to have a look into repairing them. Maybe they'll have better luck than I...

Question Power Issues on Two Boards

I should have you send me over a set of those, FBD. lol. It would be neat to tinker around with those broken boards with those.

I would also say to try using Rufus to format the SD cards, cause I've not had luck with formatting some cards and getting them to show up on the PS2 until I used Rufus to format them. I was able to get a Lexar 1TB, Samsung 512TB, and a SanDisk 32GB MicroSD card to work using this method.

    PS2 Ultra Slim

No worries, one of us has to learn so that others know what not to do in the future! I'm also trying to teach myself how to use blender so that I can do the model editing myself to add my logos to it for when I order the new shell. Definitely a bit of a learning experience, and a lot to...

    PS2 Ultra Slim

-- So... update on my own build.. So yes, resin is very VERY fragile, and I found that out the hard way when trying to put heat inserts into the shell. Thing just literally crumbled apart under the heat like a saltine cracker, and poof, no more screw holes.. So I'm probably gonna just order a...

Question Power Issues on Two Boards

Since i'm actually fairly new to soldering, and working on electronics, it's not something I'm ACTIVELY working on as it's more of a side project since I already have the two boards, but once I pick it back up, I will gladly post here if I find out anything.

    PS2 Ultra Slim

I got tired of the stock squishy disc tray switch. I absolutely couldn't stand how that felt when turning the PS2 on. So I decided to use some clicky buttons I had ordered previously for the power button. They were slightly too big, but I got it working! Had to shave down the plastic power...

    PS2 Ultra Slim

Yeah, the entire issue was it just didn't like the way I formatted the cards, I guess. Cause once I formatted the SD Cards using the Rufus application, it worked immediately with no issues. And i even tried it with the Lexar, Samsung, and even a SanDisk card using this method, and every one of...

    PS2 Ultra Slim

The shell is made to fit the one from Mouser. However, when I looked for other options, I've not been able to find one the exact size. The size listed on Mouser is 10 x 2.5 x 6.4 mm. Closest thing I could find on Amazon is 8 x 4 x 10m So it won't fit, but i'm sure you could 'make' it fit one...

    PS2 Ultra Slim

Woke up, and still no luck with the PS2. Did a bit of searching, and saw that someone had some luck with a similar issue formatting the SD card with an application called Rufus. Downloaded Rufus. https://rufus.ie/en/ Used these settings: Loaded the SD Card up with games. And FINALLY we...
