Yes, I am. But rather than making a laptop-style one, I think a handheld-styled one would be more convenient, since you then don't need to carry around extra controllers. The controller is a Thrustmaster T-Wireless for Wii. I got mine used for about ten bucks. Reciever is built-in.
When starting this portable I didn't have a battery in mind, this was a recent idea. Powering it from an AC outlet seems fine to me also. If I decide to make it truly portable, I'll propably cram it full of these cells or get something like this...

No idea how to fix that, but games play fine.
