    Worklog gcGO: Faradyne's First Portable

There’s been a bit of talk regarding that PCB in the N64 noob thread. It supposedly works pretty well, at least for the N64. Im ordering one (for $5, why not?) to mess around with but hopefully if it’s a solid solution we will get some more feedback from some additional experienced users. If...

Question Any idea where I can get a WODE or a WASP?

That’s a wii disk drive mod chip.

    Discussion Batteries

I feel kinda dumb for asking this, but I’ve been looking around a lot and just can’t find a good answer. On this schematic it’s got a pot at the end with three leads going into it. Which one goes to which pin on the pot? Will I use all three pins or just two? Where should I be measuring the...

    Worklog Link270's Whiip! (Tentative title)

Mini update, I just wanted to show off my wii (mostly) all wired together and working. I’m still waiting on my GC+ to arrive so I’ve been using a wiimote + classic control to test for now. I also got a larger usb stick since this and loaded it will full NES, SNES, and N64 Romsets:p plus a few...

Question Any idea where I can get a WODE or a WASP?

When I first started doing my searching that was essentially my goal as well, just to build a GC portable, as I didn’t care about wii functionality either. I just wanted to do a GC portable. I was in search of a wasp or something similar when I decided it was going to be much cheaper and easier...

Question Any idea where I can get a WODE or a WASP?

As you can see a lot of people here feel very strongly about wii > GameCube. You could throw the cubes up on eBay and get enough another wii or two. This would save you a lot of money. Of course the choice is yours and hopefully you’ll find what you’re looking for!

Question my hard drive loads slow get no config file found

Just throwing this in here, it’s usually a better idea to use a flash drive (or solid state drive I guess) rather than a hard drive if you’re making a portable. Hard drives have moving parts and are pretty big and can be more power hungry. With a spinning hard drive you may run into issues...

    Discussion N64 Noob Thread

That’s a very informative post, I was wondering the same thing regarding a one port solution. I also liked the info you provided in your last post regarding the battery capacities. You should start a new thread with your findings and maybe we can come up with a better, or different battery...

    Discussion Batteries

Sorry for the double post. I set up the circuit mentioned by @GC64 and have been messing with it to figure out what resistance and voltage to set the light to come on via the pot. What’s a good voltage to trigger the low battery light? I saw each cell can go down to 3V safely, but unsure when...

    Worklog Link270's Whiip! (Tentative title)

I’m running a 22 gauge for the resistors to the board and one for ground. On the resistors themselves I’ve got a few 28 gauge wires connecting some grounds, but that shouldn’t be an issue should it? Would adding a second ground wire possibly clear anything up? Also if I do need thicker wires...

That was off the regs. I got home and mesured from the board and the lower two are about 1.05V and .90V

    Worklog Link270's Whiip! (Tentative title)

Yeah they are twisted together. Yesterday I even swapped them out for fresh wires. Edit: Recharged the battery and double checked the voltages. I’m getting 5V 3.36V 1.15/1.14V and .98V and he problem is still happening. I’ll check a few more things when I get home later.

    Worklog Link270's Whiip! (Tentative title)

When the battery was full (showing like 8.4V or so on the battery output) I was seeing a solid 5V and 3.3V. 1.15V was around 1.10 and 1V was about .94.

    Worklog Link270's Whiip! (Tentative title)

I rewired my USB really well as I thought that may be the issue as well and tried a totally different drive with a fresh format and portabilizemii files but I’m still coming up to the same issue. It appears to work fine when in the normal wii menu but not portabilizemii, so it’s make sense that...

    Worklog Link270's Whiip! (Tentative title)

So right now my Wii keeps freezing randomly. I can’t seem to find any pattern except for it only happens during portabilizemii. I can’t find any shorts or anything that is obviously causing the issues. Sometimes it will run for a pretty long time and sometimes it will go for a few second before...
