    Worklog First Wii portable

Yes if you want to use VGA you need to short mode to 3.3v. As for your question about a reset button you just need to hook the reset via to one end of the switch and gnd to the other end. If the wire is really long consider adding a pull-up resistor to 3.3v (I've had issues with the Wii...

Question where to get a red bms/pmb

No it's going to be very difficult to do if you don't have much experience soldering. The best way would be to use a stencil with hot air and solder paste. It's not going to really be possible without hot air at least. Gman will have some assembled boards for sale soon, if that is something you...

Question where to get a red bms/pmb

This is the "red board" people have used before if you just want something cheap that works. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intelligent-Balance-Charging-Protection-Board-2S-Packs-18650-lithium-Satellite/311721987212?hash=item4894140c8c:g:J~kAAOSwCGVYBRVB

Discussion Wii Power Management System (open source)

To answer your questions, no powermii is more powerful than this circuit (with a more expensive BOM of course). If you want to make something like this, first you need to learn a PCB design software (Altium, Eagle, KiCAD are the most common). You would want to try to design something simple...

Discussion found cheap but good working alternatives of custom regulators

Just because it works doesn't make it good. You should check the heat after a few hours of play (I'll bet they're burning hot) and you have no idea how long they will last. That's why we use the PTH regulators.

Question Question about power consumption (6 vs 4 layers)

GC+ is objectively the cleaner solution. It will cost probably < 5 dollars in parts in China and you get a smaller component for your portable that is easier to work with (no need to solder to legs of the IC), not to mention the mounting holes.

Question Question about power consumption (6 vs 4 layers)

The OM6 trim is slightly smaller than the OMGWTF trim, but power consumption on the 6 layer is around 40 percent more than a 4 layer. With 4 18650s you'll get around 3.5 hours of battery life. With a 6 layer you'll get about half that. I highly recommend you use a GC+ instead of a GameCube...

Question does the sd card slot need to be relocated?

I believe he is referring to the memory card slot, in which case no you do not need to relocate that. You don't need to relocate the SD card slot either.

    Question Random Resets

I've made two Wii micros now and I've continuously had problems with the first one randomly resetting. It tends to happen during "loading", for example booting a game, changing menus in a game, ect. Sometimes the system runs fine for hours, other times it crashes frequently. Sometimes when it...

    Question issues about unstable pth08080

Don't double post. If you need to see something edit your post instead. Also we can't help you until you past pictures. The regulators are definitely high quality, you are using them incorrectly. Also if you "fried" 2 wiis already you need to slow down and figure out what you're doing wrong...

    Wii Motherboard Anatomy 101

In my experience, the preamp doesn't work on 5v. For my Wii Micro, I just remove the preamp entirely.

    Jeff's Wii Micro

I've updated the OP with my second revision of this project. The changes are mostly small optomizations which I won't mention, but the main change was designing a powermii like regulator board to make the internals even cleaner. Hope you guys like it!

Discussion Ideas, questions, etc, Post em here!

It's not easy, but it's definitely possible as a beginner given you are patient, willing to read for hours and practice, and do your own research. My portable was my first real electronics project. I'd say it came out pretty good, but I spent around a year before I finished because I spent a lot...

It would help if you explained what part you don't understand. Assuming you've read the guides first. Also don't post this in a guide. Make your own thread.

    STM32 NES Emulator

So I haven't updated this thread in awhile but we've made huge progress. We finished the PCB design, ordered, and assembled the board. After a few hours of troubleshooting, we got the MCU to blink an LED, which means the circuit design works. We've also written the 16 bit parallel display...
