Question n64 p cdmi screen stupid question

ok so if I wanted to make an n64 portable with a screen with an hdmi port would I have to mod my n64 with cdmi or would an rgb mod work/look ok
it is a very small screen like 2.8 inches

If you want an HDMI screen to work with the N64 you will need an active HDMI converter of some description. HDMI is a digital video format, while RGB is analog.

Why such a small screen?

Ah. There are some RGB to HDMI dongles that would be small enough to suit that application, but there are also some GCVideo type boards that would have better quality in exchange for a more fiddly installation.
