Awesome! I’ve tested mine with a 9V USB PD adapter and it works well too- seems to stay below the 3A limit that most PSUs have at 9V. Unfortunately, 12V is getting less common in USB PD land since it’s not part of the official spec.
If it doesn’t quite fill the screen, you could always...
Awesome! By the way, some of the LCD interface boards come with a backlight driver that’s physically larger than the one I used, and as such it won’t fit those mounts. In that case I’d probably make the little LCD retainer bracket wide enough so the backlight driver could be mounted there, as...
The LCD interface board I used will control the volume of the built-in amplifier using two buttons on the button panel. The volume will show up on the on-screen display. On the case itself, I used the up and down “carat” symbols (like this: ^) to indicate volume up and down. Hope that helps!
I assumed so, but thank you for clarifying! I'll keep the PS2 project as a side project, but will have to think of something new for the contest. :rothink:
I was thinking of making a PS2 "portable" in the same way I did with my "CRTreamcast" project (over on the Sega section of the forum). However, I'd probably use the same OpenSCAD script as a starting point. The OpenSCAD source and the resulting STLs are up on my Github, but I assume that...
I would not be surprised if OEM adapters output close to 9V even with a load :D. I just checked the adapter I was using to test my 79K (no disc drive) setup and it's a 9V 2A lol, seemed to work OK even when playing stuff like Burnout 3. I'll have to put it on the bench supply one of these days...
You definitely don't want to use an RCA to HDMI adapter for this, since it will result in a worse picture, probably more lag, and might not work at all as some of the LVDS boards don't support 480i.
Some Wii to HDMI adapters are basically the same thing as the Electron Shepherd version, but...
It works pretty well- the only downside I’ve found is that the scaler in those boards adds 1-3 frames of lag going from 640x480 to 1024x768. Otherwise the picture is quite good IMO
The iPad 2 display itself uses 3.3V (I think, might be 5V) mostly for the backlight. The LVDS interface boards like the one shown generally have a regulator that accepts like 7-12V. I'm running a Dreamcast (without the optical drive), iPad 2 display and a similar board to that picture and can...
That Anker Zolo looks pretty good- internally it is apparently using LiPo pouch batteries. @Luigid Do you remember what the issues were with that cheap CMB were, aside from very slow charging?
