First off I gotta thank @Wesk for his partybox build and suffering through numerous questions.

Since I joined BitBuilt and went through the models section I always wanted to build my own version of the partybox and finally I got there. The biggest hindrance at the time was definitely the lack of a larger printer but that finally isn't an issue anymore.

So here's to my Zelda partybox

For those that want to know the nitty gritty I'll try not to dissapoint. I definitely strayed from the original design mainly in the base, and a bit on the LCD front plate I was aiming to add some features that I thought would go well in a laptop styled build, big thing was working IR LEDs for the Wiimote.

First I wanted more power, so with some rearranging I managed to fit a 5th 18650 3500mah but dropped video out in the process.

Second big thing I wanted was no issues with video, now the VGA patch or component to HDMI were both definite options but thanks to those at electron-shepard.com @kent my goal was the ave-hdmi board. I did end up modifying this to be a 19pin fpc cable output later on and it definitely helped keep things compact.

The rest of the build was pretty standard:
  • 4layer PCBs, rvl-PMS, usb-pd
  • Uamp gen 1 from the GitHub
  • GC ports from Wii
  • Blower cooler
  • Nand relocated Wii, ave removed
  • Bluetooth and MX relocated
  • Battery life approx 5.5hrs
  • Max temp so far 50°C
One thing I've come across is stick to OEM controllers as best you can, nintendont did not like my 3rd party controllers but hiidra has had no issues.

Wow, it's beautiful! The logo came out wonderfully too, really nice job. The internals look really clean. Any reason why you didn't add an external HDMI port?

Congratulations again!

Thanks, it was a first try at the colour swaping and I'm glad it did work. I ran with an idea of putting the ave HDMI inset to the rear base so I could have a removable HDMI from the LCD. That way I could plug in a tv but it was an issue of space for the most part, an omega trim would have probably been better for that idea.
