Hi, I’m building my first Wii and I thought that if the CR2032 (to power on the MX chip), runs out of battery, I have to open the case to replace the old CR2032 with a new one…
To avoid those annoying operations I thought to use directly the 18650 cells (considering the negligible amount of power drained by the MX chip)…
1) Is 3.7v of the 18650 cells good for the MX chip?
2) In case that 3.7v is not ok, I found a converter from 3.3-6v to 3.3v, is this one ok?

just so many i am so cool
I think Shank experimented with something like that on a G-Boy and ended up having the batteries drain much faster than they should have with the portable powered off. It's probably not recommend, though someone else may have some insight into a better way to do it.

I've 14Ah with my 4 18650 cells, do you think it isn't enough?
Do you know if there is a worklog or something like that?

Honestly dude, those little CMOS batteries can last 10-15 years. My original first run Wii's CMOS battery still works, since it only runs the RTC. If you buy a brand new cell, it will probably outlast the rest of the components in the system, and your interest in playing it. If you want to make it easier, you could buy a CMOS battery clip that'll allow you to just slip the cell out without any soldering later down the line, but I highly doubt it'll be a problem.

Ok thank you, I already have a CMOS battery clip, I'll use that.
