1/17/18 UPDATE:
I have completely rebuilt this console. It's the same shell, repainted with a new motherboard and cooling system. Pics :)

Original Post:
Here is my first wii portable. It was built inside of a hard ds lite carrying case and is about the same size as a dmg gameboy. The design is clamshell with 3ds buttons and a 5" composite screen.

On the back of the console, from left to right in the picture the ports go:
R, Z, usb 3.0 for component output with automatic switching and controller ports 1-3, switch to turn off the gc+ so player 1 can be outputted, micro usb charging port, switching headphone jack, usb ports for PM and wii u gc adapter, Start, L.

The power switch is on the right, the same side as a ds lite power switch. On the left are the battery indicator lights taken from a wiimote. The front has speaker holes for the stereo speakers in front. The L/R/Z/St buttons are actually a chopped up ps2 dpad and are surprisingly comfortable.

Inside it has a gc+ as well as the WiiHUD audio amp for full slider compatibility and volume changing through controller button presses.

The console has a built in sensor bar using IR leds in the shoulders, and Bluetooth for wiimote compatibility.

I use Testors spray paint for the paint job and I love the colors, although there are a few spots I accidentally touched with the soldering iron while assembling it. Whoops :P

Overall I think it is a definite improvement over my first portable. Here the two are together side by side for comparison.

Can't forget the internals :P

Great job on this portable - looks fantastic!
component output with automatic switching
How exactly did you implement that? I'd like to do the same.
and controller ports 1-3
Breakout box coming soon? Or is that what that dongle that keeps hiding in the shadows is for?
The L/R/Z/St buttons are actually a chopped up ps2 dpad
I knew I recognized them from somewhere but couldn't quite place it. Interesting choice. Glad they work well!

The pins on the port are p1, 2, and 3 data, Y, Pb, Pr, Ground, 3.3v, and Mode. If you connect 3.3v to mode, it enables component, so on the male cable I was testing with I connected those two pins together. Then when you plugged it in, it automatically switched to component, turning off the built in screen.

I'm making a breakout box that uses a switch instead (that way I can use the controller ports without needing to use component). The thing in the background is just a flash drive I was testing. It's a SanDisk and has lots of issues, but I don't have my Samsung drive yet. Here's the breakout box so far, although it's going to be a while before it's done haha. I'm so burned out right now.

Edit: oh lol I just realized you were talking about the gcp wire, not the micro usb. Yeah I did it that way so I could have charge and play through two different wires without getting complicated or taking space XD

this looks amazing, when do you plan to make a video on it
I have a YouTube worklog on it I plan to update and I'll post one there then link it here. I am going to buy the 128gb Samsung flash drive before I do that though since all I have are Sandisk ones.

I can see the cooling outtake by the screen, but where does the fan pull air in from?

Just the case internals. There just wasn't any space for an intake anywhere near the fan unfortunately :/ it seems to keep it cool, although I would've preferred a better setup
