As of this morning, fingernail clippings and Milo granules in a DS lite. On both sides of the main board. I can't work out how the fuck.... some people...

I found hair (short), something that looks like dandruff, and then the ribbon cable that goes to the second screen had something covering it. this was my oldest sister's ds(Lite). like honestly HTF

But how does it even get in there? There are so many cross braces that sit flat against the board. Stuff shouldn't be able to get into these stupid places.

Not a console, but I had one of these ewriters: https://myboogieboard.com/ewriters/sync

After a few weeks, the LCD crapped out and I sent for a replacement. In the mean time, I tore open the old one to see what was what. The touch driver board had a few serial pins, RX, TX, VCC, PORN, GND

Wait, what? RX... TX... VCC... PORN - Jeez, I did see that correctly. Silk-screened right onto the PCB.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'd love to know what that label indicated.

everybody keeps posting bugs when this thread is about the thing you least expected to find.
The first time you find bugs, they are the last thing you'd expect to find. Then after that nothing comes inside until it's been checked :P

About a decade ago I bought an auction lot of 100 Super Famicom games (actually 99 + Super Gameboy). Some really good ones that I cleaned up and played right away, like Link to the Past, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island. But a lot that I didn't care about and took forever getting around to cleaning. Opened one of the carts last night and found this:

Didn't have much hope, but several q-tips and a bunch of Windex later:

Believe it or not, the game actually plays! I was really surprised especially since one of the legs on the resistor on the top right of the cart completely corroded away. Save battery is probably toast too, but not a big deal since I can't see myself ever really playing this game.

Pachinko Fan - Shouri Sengen, for those curious.

Edit: Don't know why those images rotated 90 degrees. Oh well.

Enlighten me. Alcohol merely superior, or necessary?
Window cleaners have chemicals like ammonia and chlorine in them, which can stick around and cause corrosion or crystals later. I don't know Windex's formulation, but it's not a good idea to use anything "cleaner" over IPA.

(Also it's the first time I've EVER heard of someone using Windex to do anything besides clean fekkin' windows)

Ha! Good reference Madmorda! Admittedly, I may be damaging my games in the long run (I don't know) but Windex has been my go-to for cart cleaning for years now. It's also pretty good at cleaning stickers off of plastic cases (keep it away from cardboard boxes). The Windex softens up the paper part of the sticker which can be rubbed of. The sticky part is left behind which I dry, then peel up with some duct tape.
