So this is yet another attempt at a wii portable. I always seem to get a nice looking case then flock up the electronics Big thanks to gman and shank for your files that finally made the idea of a wave bird with a screen easier to do. Btw I’ve been away from the scene for awhile so if there’s been a wave bird like portable let me know. Also please come up with a better name lol. Enough talk here’s what I came up with over the weekend...

A lot more work to be done but I’m pretty confident I’ll finish this one. Also if someone knows what the difference is between the original Gc+ and the new ones are let me know bc I have two brand new v1’s that I bought years ago and saw the new ones the other day. Worth the upgrade?

This is looking sweet! I love the fact you used the internals of the G-Wii to make everything super clean, neat and tidy. Good luck with the frankencasing, excited to see how this turns out after all of the post processing!

Nice looking work dude, really looking forward to seeing the final result.

I'll have a 3D printable version of something like this hopefully before the end of the year which will be fun to compare.

That looks really cool bro! I thought about going the 3D route but I’m not nearly good enough with fusion to sculpt the controller pieces.

You should ask Aurelio I guess.
I went ahead and ordered one I trust that the v2 is better and has more features. The v1s will go in the parts bin with all The Wiikey fusions and the rtd 3ds slider conversation board lol

It is up to you, i'm using an original pcb in my portable, since I had to cut a gc PCB and it works without any issues, so I guess it would work too.

A little update. I got my wii and everything else I need for the electronics in so I should have at least a wii with BBLoader installed by the end of the weekend. I’ve also made a lot of progress on the case. Still have some work to do to make it perfect but here’s a teaser;)

I work a full time job and don’t have too much time on the weekdays so I’ve been sanding, priming, and filling after work each day. I should be almost done but need to pick up some more primer tomorrow.

avian means of or relating to birds, since the controller is the wave bird.
That’s neat!! I didn’t know that lol

update:
Fucking RIP!!!! I left my case out on the balcony to dry after applying primer and it flocking warped in the sun!!! I’m so mad at myself

I will be remaking the case and hopefully better this time. It shouldn’t take as long as the first one did but unfortunately I will most likely have a lot of overtime coming up at work. I’m so pissed lol I will post some progress when I have some

Can't you heat it up and warp it back?
Looks like the case has also shrunk slightly as well. It tends to happen when PLA heats up and then cools down, slightly shrinking in the process. Hopefully OP can salvage this though, definitely a shame to see this happen (I have been there before and know the feeling, it sucks!)

20ish...
SLA printing can do the same damn thing...21hrs of print time for some pretty crappy corners. But that's nothing compared to ABS is an Acetone bath for a little too long...Yeah, we've all been there.

Like stone said it shrank a little. Plus it would take to much time and it would be a lot of work and still not turn out like it was. I’m going to order some broken wave birds when I get paid and start making another case. I might try to modify the gwii case in fusion more so there’s less case work to do the second time. Also I kinda broke the case to pieces in a rage

Update
Just wanted to give y’all a little update. I’ve been working long hours at work trying to meet a deadline but I’ve been modifying the printed section of the case in fusion between work and sleep. I’m currently on Rev 4 and still making little adjustments to make the whole case making process easier the second time around ;).
Here’s what I got so far
