My first portable the Sega Gene-Kris.. it is just a pretty easy set up. I am rebuilding my sons AtGames Sega into a portable. The Sega actually is pretty cool. But either way it is just my first project and hopefully I will be able to finish it.

I have a 4.3 inch screen but I doubt I can use it. So I have a Weller soldering station and a 4.3 in tft on the way! I can't wait to do some real work with this

The case work is all from some polycarbonate I got from the scrap bin at work I cut it bent it and am working with it to see what I can do with it. It may work or it may not who knows...but please don't make fun of the crappy case so far lol I just started

I think om still gonna need to build a battery pack with a protection circuit, build the controller from the old one, and relocate the cartridge slot..which is gonna be tough I'm sure. Anyway that's it for now let me know what you think..I don't have thin skin so let me have it lol.

P.s. except about the case hahahahahahahaha

For a first frankencase it looks pretty decent, just make sure to sand it nice and smooth, and then paint it nice

I think this is probably the first time I've seen a generic controller not have epoxy on the chip. Also I love that they spelled Menu wrong lmao.

Anyways like Cheese said, your case looks good for a first foray into frankencasing. I think you made a good decision using a third party controller to chop up, as they are generally less complex inside. Is that a wireless one though? If you're able to use a wired one with that console, I'd definitely do that instead. Less chance of it having issues, plus it would probably be easier to power. Either way, good work so far :) can't wait to see more

Thank you @Madmorda I appreciate it! It is all third party but I am thinking..

I have one of those AtGames systems as well - I love it. Sega has always been pretty awesome when it comes to handing out licenses and this is one of those cases; it's an "official" Sega product just not made by Sega. I can say from experience that the Genesis Game Genie doesn't work with it, but that's not much of a deal breaker.

If I were to make a Genesis portable, I would probably make it out of one of these. Good luck!
