Title says most.

I have a Wii that is a RVL-CPU-40, that i will use for a G-boy, but i want to salvage the disc drive from it so i can put it into my original Wii, which is RVL-CPU-01.
My question is, are they compatible?

If so, nice!

If not, what parts can i take from the RVL-CPU-40 disc drive and put in the RVL-CPU-01 disc drive to repair it?

RVL-CPU-01 status: DOES pull in and spit out discs, but DOES NOT read them.
RVL-CPU-40 status: DOES NOT pull in and spit out discs, but DOES read them.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Whilst I don't know exactly how you can repair the drive, I'm almost certain you can swap them between revisions. The read error may be down to the laser not working, so if you can figure out how to swap that you may be able to repair it.

For future reference (or if anyone is googling), any revision disk drive will plug in and work correctly with any other revision (excluding the wii mini).

The family edition Wiis' disc drives do not have the mechanism to center Gamecube games, so you *can* swap them, but you won't have Gamecube compatibility
