Hello I'm currently sourcing parts for my N64 portable, making a list and how much it will cost.(got to order before my wife finds out what I'm doing lol) I need a capacitor and resistor for my step down regulator (ph08080). I was wondering if these would work. I have been reading about the subject but Amazon.ca doesn't sell individual amount and I don't want to buy a random kit with crap tons of components I don't need for my current job. Sorry if it's a stupid question.

If you need generic passives for cheap you should use eBay. To answer your question the capacitor will work, it just needs to have the correct capacitance and a voltage rating for at least whatever your input voltage is. For the resistor I would probably try to get a little closer to the mark. It's better to go a little under than over since the voltage will drop slightly when under load.

So a 1.8k perhaps
Hello! It looks like you are stuck on resistance for TI regulators.

I believe a 1.8k will work just fine.

Here is the diagram for calculating resistance needed.

As you can see, 1.8k is lower than 1.89k, thus making this ideal for testing!

Good luck. :)
